by Church Times

The Redeemed Christian Church of God has formally announced the passage of Professor Fola Aboaba who died on Saturday, January 21, 2023.

The announcement was contained in a statement signed by the Special Assistant to the General Overseer of the church on Administration, Pastor Oladele Balogun on Monday, January 24.

The church described Aboaba as a distinguished elder and member of its board of trustees.

It stated that Prof Aboaba served God passionately in various capacities and made significant contributions to the work of God in RCCG.

The church said he spearheaded the activities that also led to the birth of The Redeemer’s University as the pioneer pro-chancellor and chairman of the school’s governing council.

The late professor emeritus of Agricultural engineering was instrumental in the execution of many projects and programmes in the RCCG according to the statement.

“He was a member of the annual Holy Ghost Congress Planning Committee as well as being the chairman of the Technical Advisory Board and Lands Committee of the mission.” the statement noted.

While expressing gratitude to God for the life of the late sage, the church prayed that “God will grant the family the fortitude the bear the loss”

He was an Emeritus Professor of Agricultural Engineering at the University of Ibadan and the Pioneering Dean of the Faculty of Technology (1976-1982). He was the Executive Secretary of the Committee of Vice Chancellors of Nigerian Universities (1992-1998).

Many in the RCCG have described the late professor as unassuming and a man who prefers to be behind the scene. He was quite close to the General Overseer of the church, Pastor Enoch Adeboye.
