The Christian Network for African Missions has intensified its campaign for the use of the audio Bible as an evangelical tool, while noting that the device makes a lot of difference on missions field.
The missions body also plans to formally launch the mass production and distribution of the device in Africa and beyond.on.August 8.at the Presbyterian Church, Yaba..
Chairman of the Planning committee, for the event which is tagged Unveil, Rev Tony Nwanehiudo, told Church Times that the audio device has proved to be very effective in reaching the unreached.
He said the organisation has in the last three years been producing and distributing audio Bible devices across Africa and Asia adding.that the impact has been phenomenal.
It however hopes to create greater awareness in the church.for its use just the way the printed Bible is being used.
Top church leaders including the chairman of the Lagos Chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria , Bishop Stephen Adegbite, captains of industry, entrepreneurs and missions stakeholders will gather to launch the device formally. The Church will also be properly briefed on why audio Bible should be used for evangelical and spiritual enhancement purposes.
Audio Bible
Nwanehiudo stresses that the use of the audio Bible which comes in the form of a handy radio device has gained momentum, and it has become a game changer. ‘Many people who can’t read and who are impaired visually are embracing it, and God is using it to transform lives.’
Each of the device, according to him, ‘costs about N8000 to produce. It uses solar light for it to recharge so there is no worry about electric power for it to work ‘ said Nwanehiudo.
He disclosed that about N38 million was spent to produce many copies of the device in 2024..’The copies were distributed on mission fields free of charge to new converts’
‘What we have done over the years is to give out the device to people free of charge. But the cost of producing it is being borne by our partners and individuals who are committed to the task of soul-winning.
We don’t intend to change that. Our hope and desire is that through the device, the word of God will gain more ground, especially among those who can’t read.’

The August Event
Commenting on the August event, Nwanehiudo said, the mission body will articulate the campaign better and keep the church abreast with what we are doing.
‘This is the first time this is being done in Africa. All stakeholders in the church community will gather on that day for what will lead to a revolutionary use of God’s word to reach the unreached.’
He explained further that the need to bring the church on board concerning the project is borne out of the increasing demand for the device.
‘The demand for the audio Bible is increasing by the day. And it is not what just anyone person or organisation can meet. It is what the Church has to take up as a project and buy into it for the sole purpose of soul winning.’
According to him, the mission’s body has the equipment to produce the device in different languages. But with the support of the church, a more sophisticated machinery will be put in place for mass production.
He said, ‘There are audio Bible devices for every language. Presently, there are about 30 languages with different audio Bible devices. They have been customised for each language.’
Spiritual edification
Apart from being used to reach the unreached communities, Nwanehiudo said the audio Bible is a great instrument for spiritual edification.
‘There are times you don’t want to read the Bible. You want to listen to it. By listening to it, you gather a lot of spiritual momentum.
The Bible says faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God. The more you hear, the more faith develops in you. It is a device for every Christian.
“That is why we are taking the campaign everywhere. Apart from asking people to support the mass production, there is a need for every child of God to have a copy of the audio Bible.
‘This is not the same as listening to the audio Bible online on our phones. It is free from the distractions that come with online use. It is a device solely devoted to the Bible.’
The August event, according to him, promises to be the starting point. ‘It will mark the beginning of a Bible Revolution and a missions awareness campaign that will lead to a huge harvest of souls.’
