Vice President of World Evangelism Bible Church, Prophet Ezekiel Amusan has recalled how dare devil robbers attacked him several years ago, shot at him at close range and yet he escaped unhurt.
He made the recollection at the 13th anniversary of Christ Covenant Family and Prophetic Church which held at the Church’s headquarters at Olowora, Lagos on Saturday October 26
Amusan who was the guest speaker at the event which had the theme Royal Priesthood said as a royal priest God has demonstrated his love for him in many instances he could not recall urging his listeners to begin to live out their heritage in Christ.
Explaining his ordeal later in a chat, Prophet Amusan said the robbers accosted him under the Maryland bridge. “They actually blocked my car which I just bought then. It happened in May 1984. I was coming from service. Then I was attending Christ Universal Gospel Mission. My mother was in the car. As we drove close the under of the Maryland Bridge, the robbers blocked my car with a painted taxi and ordered me to come down. I resisted at first. One of them brought out a cutlass and attempted to smite or scare but as he raised up his hand I shouted in the name Jesus and immediately his hand got stuck in the air. God opened my eyes to see an angel holding his hands and preventing him from attacking me.”
As that was happening the other robbers tried to shoot him. But each time they pulled the trigger and pointed to him nothing would happen. But when they raised the gun up and engage the trigger the bullets would go up showing there was bullet in it. It was a baffle to them. The whole drama started at around 8 p.m. All the attempts to shoot him proved abortive. But they eventually made away with the car.
As God would have some army officers who were his friends were able to recover the vehicle and brought it to him in his Lagos home just exactly seven months after the robbery took place. He said God had told him that he would see the car seven months after. He recalls that getting the vehicle back was equally tough.
Amusan, a septuagenarian and former International Vice President of Chase Merchant Bank, a position which made him reside in Hong Kong said every believer is a priest of God and as such should not hesitate to operate under that grace.
According to him a believer carries divine immunity noting that the three gifts that were brought to Jesus at birth are of great spiritual importance to his royalty “As a priest we have been set apart to make exploit for God and demonstrate the kingdom of God while one earth. God expects us to manifest his glory here on earth. A Christian is not expected to be afraid of the power of darkness because there is nothing in that kingdom” he said.
He noted with dismay how many believers don’t live the reality of their new birth. “People are worried and stagnant because they don’t live in the reality that Jesus bore all our pain and that the chastisement of our piece was on him. He has taken over and we can be sure that with Jesus we have a guaranteed future.”
The anniversary attracted several friends of the Church including Pastor Victor Omole. The host. Apostle Michael Adunade said the 13th anniversary was specially designed to thank “God who has been gracious to us. Looking back I want to give all the glory to God for always being our shield and buckler. He is the very help in times of need. We have no other God that we can rely on. We have to continue to experience him in all areas of life.”
Adunade expressed hope that Nigeria would come out of her present imbroglio and become a respectable nation in the comity of nations.
