‘Vice President Osinbanjo not quiet in the face of  killings’

by Church Times

A non-partisan group known as New Tribe has described as untrue that Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has remained quiet in the face of repression and killings of Nigerians.

The group which circulated videos of many instances where Osinbajo condemned the killings of Christians insisted that the VP had always raised his voice when such killings took place.

In one of the videos, Osinbajo said, “What is the explanation for someone going to a church to kill priests and worshipers. No one should be allowed to kill and maim anyone. It is unacceptable.”

Osinbajo in some of the various clips also condemned killings in all forms insisting that such act must not be tolerated.

The group in an attached statement to one of the videos said, “The Vice President has been accused of a lot of things that are not true and one of them is that he has kept quiet as Christians and other Nigerians are being killed by herdsmen and bandits in the northern part of Nigeria.

“That is far from the truth as seen in this video the many times the Vice President has publicly condemned these killings as well as threatened the perpetrators of these dastardly acts.”

Describing itself as The New Tribe the group in the unsigned statement said, “we do not associate with any religion, we do not associate with any tribe and we do not associate any vice, like corruption. We associate with the truth”
