Sound doctrine, not about Church teachings- CAC President

by Church Times

The President of Christ Apostolic Church, Nigeria and Overseas, Pastor Samuel O. Oladele has said sound doctrine is not what churches teach but it’s about the doctrine of Christ as enshrined in the Bible.

He made this known at a press conference to flag off the 2023 pastors’ conference of the CAC.

About 12,000 ordained ministers in CAC will be at Babalola International Miracle Centre for the event which starts on Tuesday, September 19 and ends in the early hours of Friday, 22nd September.

Oladele. expressed concern about the way today’s church is shifting ground on a daily basis by not following the doctrines of the Bible.

He stated that ‘the doctrine that we are talking about is not CAC system of beliefs, but what the Bible teaches. It is about the fundamental truths of the Bible which we can not joke with. We cannot compromise that. It is time for the church to go back to the doctrines of the Bible,” he said.

Ancient landmark

Oladele noted that today’s churches are changing the ancient landmarks of the Christian faith adding that the theme of this year’s pastors’ conference is geared towards returning back to the Bible.

He said, “There are so many teachings flying about today, but we are talking about doctrine rooted in the Scriptures”.

While noting that some of the teachings flying around may be popular, he said, ‘If they are not rooted in the Bible, they won’t help the Church.’

Oladele stressed that ‘the word of God is settled forever and it doesn’t need revision or padding. That’s why God warned Israelites not to tamper with the ancient landmarks which demarcate family holdings from one another.

He lamented the gradual shifting of the Church from the basics of the Christian faith.

This according to him, made CAC decide to talk on “Proving our growth through sound doctrine” in the 2023 conference.

Faith

The Christian faith according to him should not be practised the way anyone wants. ‘It must be practised according to specification which had been given in the Bible.’

He explained further that it was necessary for ordained ministers to return to the basics and uphold sound doctrine from the Bible.

The CAC President emphasised that the focus on sound doctrine is not what the church or its leaders teach, but what the Bible teaches.

“The church may be wrong but the Word of God cannot be wrong, Psalms 119:89 says “For ever, O LORD, thy word is settled in heaven.”

Asked if the conference is open to non-members of the CAC, he said, ‘ While there are gatherings of the church where non-members are invited to attend, the annual Pastors’ conference is strictly for ordained ministers of the church and not even for any minister.

He said the conference is strictly for CAC ordained ministers to “come once a year, and be ministered to as well.”

Pastor Oladele explained that the retreat programme for ministers is not only a conventional annual conference but such where God’s visitation is primarily expected.

He added that through the resource persons and the range of topics to be treated, the expectation is that all spiritual, emotional, intellectual, financial etc. needs will be met in the lives of every attendee.

The President also disclosed that the conference resource persons are from within the church while some special features of the conference are awareness from the church research department as well as a lecture on estate management.
