The LORD is good, a strong hold in the day of trouble ; and He knoweth them that trust in Him. ” – Nahum 1: 7, KJV.

A time of Ade versity usually comes without notice. In other words, it may be sudden and it can take various dimensions or scopes.

If it is personal or family based, it may come in form of a financial difficulty, health challenges or even the loss of a loved one.

In some other cases, such a difficult time may take the form of an armed- robbery/ burglary attacks.

On a Medium Level scale, it can come in form of a sudden attack on a Community as it has been currently witnessed in some Northern parts of our country especially in Benue and Plateau States where Communities were woken up with the rude shock of sporadic gunshots of their assailants by mid- nights after they must have retired to their beds.

Such surprised attacks don’t usually come with any form of Warning or Threats otherwise the victims could have made some preparations to defend themselves.

On a National/ International level, times of adversity can take the form of War or War Threats. At such a High Level, Nations don’t usually go into War except when their Diplomatic Relations have broken down completely and there are no Mediators that the two Parties can subscribe or submit to.

But apart from human factors described above, there are also natural causes such as Flood, an inferno or Wildfire. Others are Wild Storms, Volcanic eruptions or Earthquakes with widespread and devastating disruption.

And to prevent or withstand some or all of the aforementioned scenarios described, one or group of people as the case may be must ensure that they have established and continue to maintain a good relationship with their Maker- GOD the Almighty.

He is the only Tested and Proven Surety that can prevent the occurrence of any form of Adversity be it at Personal, Communal or National Levels. And He allows such Difficult Times to come for whatever reasons, He also serves as the Divine Shock- Absorbers to ensure that the recipients do not break down.

He also ensure that a way of escape or solution to manage the challenging period is provided.

It is against the backdrop of the foregoing that we are all being admonished as individuals, groups of people or a Society to always ensure that we are in Good Standing with our Maker.

It is with such a Good Relationship that we can rely upon and be sure of a positive response whenever we call upon GOD for solution or deliverance in times of trouble.

Succinctly put, “The Name of the LORD is a Strong Tower, the Righteous runneth into it, and he is safe”. – Proverbs 10: 18, KJV.

Shalom and Happy New Month. – Gbemiga OLAKUNLE, JP
