Spokesman of the Christian Association of Nigeria, Pst Bayo Oladeji has confirmed the death of CAN official, Lawal Andimi in the hands of Boko Haram insurgents.
Oladeji confirmed his death in his response to our correspondent’s enquiry in a terse WhatsApp message.
He simply wrote ‘it is true’ adding that the body is preparing a comprehensive statement on the development.
Lawan Andimi, chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in Michika local government area of Adamawa state was reportedly killed by the insurgents on Monday.
He was abducted early January when the insurgents attacked his hometown.
It is however not too clear if his death was premeditated or an accident since the insurgents are yet to own up.
Nandini had in a video asked government and his colleagues in CAN to come to his rescue.
He had told the world that the insurgents have been kind to him.
He said, “I have never been discouraged, because all conditions that one finds himself …is in the hand of God. God who made them to take care of me.
‘So, the summary of my speech; I am appealing to my colleagues, reverends, particularly my president, Reverend Joel Billy who is a strong man, a man of compassion and man of love. He can do all his best to speak to our governor, Umaru Jibrilla (Fintiri) and other necessary agents for my release here,”
The Boko Haram insurgents have been on the prowl lately. Between December 2019 and now, several people have been killed by the group. Just a day to Christmas the group released a video on 11 people it killed
CAN had in several statements urged government to walk its talk insisting that the reality on ground does not show something concrete is being done to curb the activities of the deadly group.
