SAVED BY GRACE: A poetic rendition of the salvation experience

I doubted your existencesaved by grace
Due to my uncultured mind
I focused on my subsistence
So much that I became blind

A man of inferiority
Giving in to every choice that is false
Walking with an air of superiority
Trying to mask my loss

But in me was a deep void,
Darkness springing from my corrupt mind
Yet living in a world
That didn’t seem to mind

O wretched man that I am!
Who shall deliver me from this body of death
Then came the I AM
Who shed his blood on earth

In the distance, a faint light shone
It grew brighter as I drew near
So bright was the light that I was thrown
Down to my knees with the burdens I bear
Pleading with tears for the blood to atone
Now I am saved and Heaven’s refrain I hear

Thanks be to God, for the salvation He wrought
I am flooded with more joy than I could have bought
I’ve been given access to His court.
And grace to live as I ought.
