World acclaimed film, Praise Party, set for release in Nigeria Nov 10

Praise Party, an internationally acclaimed film will be officially released to the Nigerian audience on November 10.

Already the film has received endorsements from outside Nigeria. It won the best international feature of the 2023 Charlotte Black Film Festival in North Carolina, USA. It was screened live, on July 15th in Montreal, during the 2023 Canada-China International Film Festival (CCIFF)

Praise Party was among the Official Selection of the 2023 Toronto Lift-Off Film Festival and the 2023 Realtime Film Festival.

A statement from the website of Brampton Productions, the producers of the film indicated that the film which was shot in Nigeria will be available for viewership from November 10. 2023

About Praise Party

Praise Party paints the picture of an African marriage in crisis. It is a story of a family with the head of the family, Tobe Thompson, exhibiting an extremely abusive trait. Apart from being emotionally abusive, he is enabled by his irrational mother Mrs. Munachimso Thompson, who perverts justice.

His wife, Zara, bears the brunt of the toxicity; and experiences a nervous breakdown. The couple grapples with infertility, bankruptcy, separation, trauma, and finding answers to life’s vicissitudes.

It is an emotionally packed drama with a graphic display of the oddities of a failing marriage. The themes are Abuse, Mental Health, Injustice, Pain, Forgiveness, Love, and faith.

The main Cast are Kunle Remi, Eberechukwu Bayray Nwizu, Tina Mba and Sola Fosudo. Others are  Keppy Ekpenyong, Chioma Nwosu, and Arinze Okonkwo, amongst others.

Produced by Anuli Ajagu and Helen Ayagere, the film was directed by Obi Martins. It promises to be a new chapter in the film industry in Nigeria.

 

Anuli Ajagu

Anuli who is the Producer cum Executive Producer of Praise Party is a Nigerian Canadian. He is an indigene of Nnewi Anambra State.

She ventured into independent film making, to fulfill a lifelong vision of becoming a film producer; telling exciting, entertaining, and unique stories of black communities and culture.

She is the Board Director, Training Consultant, and Founder of several high-impact initiatives, including an N.G.O, Youth & Gender Network, and faith initiative, Women Mentoring Women, amongst others.

Anuli holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Theatre Arts, a Master’s in Mass Communication, a Post Graduate Diploma in Journalism, a Graduate Certificate in Human Resources Management, and is currently a doctoral student at Royal Roads University, Victoria, Canada.

She’s a published author of fiction and prose and was a columnist for about a decade, in Nigeria West Africa. She has over 300 published media articles on a range of subjects mainly youth, women, and leadership.

Anuli who is in her early 50s featured as an actress in the defunct TV series, Fortunes that aired on Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) prime time about 30 years ago.

She acted alongside Ramsey Nouah, Regina Askia, Liz Benson, and other talented actors.

A mother of three adult children, she has experienced heart-wrenching trauma that gave her a wake-up call amidst uncertainty. She has since stepped out in faith to fulfill her vision of film making.

She gives God absolute credit for seeing her through turbulent times and hopes to make many more movies that are entertaining, enriching, inspiring, and uplifting.

Praise Party is her debut feature film, where she also acted as a therapist.
