ASK THE LORD ALWAYS.
JER 33:3. PS 23.
Many have always wondered, since God is all-knowing, why must we bother asking him to intervene in our situations. Can’t he just help us out of our predicament without asking him to do so?
The question seems valid. But we need to understand that God did not create us to be independent of Him. Rather, He created us to rely on Him and also to take instructions from Him. And that can only be achieved in a two-way communication..
Right from the Garden of Eden, he already made available all that will make life easy for man. Adam and Eve came into the garden when everything was set. Their work was to tend the garden and explore it.
But then, when God wanted fellowship and relationship. That is why it is important that we cultivate that fellowship with him. He knows all we need but then he wants us to come to the place of prayer and present those things to him.
In our text Jer 33:3, God says, “Call unto me and I will answer thee, and show thee great and mighty things, which thou knoweth not.”
It is a clear instruction from God the Creator to his creations.
There are many things that look alike but are world apart. The world is full of deceptions. So, for us not to fall into the trap of satan and his agent, we need to seek God’s face.
Apart from the fact that God wants us to maintain regular fellowship with him, we need direction. And he is the only one who can give it.
He has given us his word. But it is the holy spirit that interprets his word to us. It is when we have proper understanding of His word that we can truly enjoy our stay here on earth
A lot of people’ are in a mess today because they don’t know how to get direction from God.. They embarked on the journey of life without asking God for His direction and leading.
They took important decisions about their lives with human wisdom without carrying God along . That is why people sometimes fail in marriage, and other human endeavours. What should have been a celebration now became regrets.
They fell into the enemies traps and engage in ceaseless battles. The fact is that we lack what it takes to walk alone in this world of darkness.. Not everything that glitters is gold. So.we need discernment for every step we want to take..
What does it mean to ask?
What does it mean to ask God? Asking God simply means wanting to know His will.about the steps we want to take in life. It also mean to wait for Him. The time we are asking is the time of waiting. It is time to take a break from our struggles and invite him to take the lead.
We ask because we want to see things with the eyes of God. And hear with His ears. It is an admission that God is wiser than us, more caring and loving. It simply means that God can never deceive us And he can never make mistakes
Remember, he is the all knowing God. Dan 22:2 But He needs human permission to act in matters that concerns. And that does not mean he can not act unilaterally. It simply means God respects our free will. He is control of everything, both in heaven and earth. Yet, he gave man the option of choice.
How to seek His face.
To start with, you can’t seek God if you don’t have relationship with him. You must first take that step of faith of becoming born again if you’re yet to align yourself with him. You need to take that step so that your relationship with God can be that of a Father and child. Rom 8:14.
It should not be a fire brigade relationship. You don’t go to God only when you have problems. You go to him always to seek his face, to fellowship with him and hear from him.
Seeking God also entails the regular study of God’s word
Present your matter to God through prayer and fasting. Spend time with the word of God in the place of prayer. As you do this regularly, God will make himself mighty on your behalf.
Give Him thanks for the past, present and the future.
1Thes 5:18.. Be ready to do what God says. Be heavenly focused. Luke 9:25.
When you seek God’s face, you; are by so doing giving honour to Him. Buy beyond that seeking him always gives you peace of mind and gives you the confidence that you will have success at the end and that His presence will always go before you. Jer 1:19.
