by Church Times

The Executive of the Association of West Africa Theological Seminary Alumni Association (AWA) led by its President, Dr. John Egbe, and the Vice President Dr. Ruth Guning on Thursday, February 16th  paid a familiarization visit to the new Provost of the school Dr. Dauda Gava in his office.

Egbe said the visit was to show their support for the new provost and to encourage him as he saddles the ship of the institution in the next five years.

Egbe reminded the new provost that WATS was known over the years for its academic excellence and discipline which marked it out among other seminaries.

He noted that along the line things began to drift making the institution lose some of the things that made it stand out.

He then appealed to the new provost to find ways to restore the glory of the institution which is the largest non-denominational seminary. Egbe also pledged to support the provost in carrying out major reforms in the school.

Responding, Dr. Gava appreciated the Alumni executive for honoring him with the visit.

He reiterated his firm belief that the Alumni association of any institution is its greatest asset and an ally in development. He promised to carry the Association along as he works towards repositioning the seminary and consolidating its legacies.

Gava said he was fully aware of the enormity of the task before him but feels encouraged to know that the Alumni Association is solidly behind him.
