Governor of Lagos State Mr. Babajide Sanwoolu has said theological education is crucial.to leadership.development
He made the observation at the 30/31st convocation ceremony of West Africa Theological Seminary, Ipaja, Lagos on Saturday, September 11.
Sanwoolu who was represented at the event by the Permanent Secretary for Home Affairs Mrs. Adetutu Ososanya noted at the event that ‘Theological Education is gaining both importance and prominence as it serves as an advanced platform in the equipping of leaders who can guide with wisdom in the coming decades’
The governor observed further that the world is in a precarious situation. ‘ we live in a time where the world is fast changing and the love of self is overriding the hearts of men.
‘Greed, corruption and immorality which are resultant effects of this is the root cause of lacuna in leadership and the chaos the world is suffering from.’ he noted.
He emphasized however that theological education will help immensely in ‘shaping good leaders who will promote world peace and aid the achievement of our global vision and mission.’
While congratulating the graduating students of the institution Sanwoolu implored the institution’s leadership and management to continue to inculcate in the students ‘messages of love, kindness, tolerance, piety peaceful co-existence and harmonious relationship amongst others’
He assured the institution that the government would continue to provide a conducive environment for the practice of religious beliefs as well as encourage harmonious relationship among different regious faithful .
