General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye has given a clue to the kind of prayer that saved Nigeria from suffering from a devastation from the covid-19 pandemic
Adeboye gave the clue on November 1 in a message titled, better days ahead..
While giving the hint, he said, many people had wondered why Nigeria did not suffer much from the pandemic stating that what saved Nigeria was the prayer of mercy.
‘When covid-19 broke all the advanced countries said when this thing comes to Africa we will be dying like chicken. They said so because they were dying in thousands in their own countries.
‘People began to panick. When it came to Nigeria. It became obvious that we had nothing to help ourselves but God.
‘God saw that we only have God. That is why we cried to God for mercy.
‘We cried to God for mercy. That is what we did. God looked upon us in His mercy and delivered us because going by medical help we had nothing.
‘We were not even sure of the drugs in our hospitals. But the mercy of God delivered us. We know we don’t have anything but God. We had to pray to God for mercy. It’s the prayer of mercy that saved Nigeria.
He urged his listeners not to relent in praying ‘Just one more prayers, your breakthrough will come. You probably have prayed all manner of prayers, and you did not get results.,maybe you should just pray one more kind of prayer. Ask for His mercy. What you need from God is mercy.’ he said.
While noting that every human being has a bit of anxiety, he said the Christian should rejoice always.
‘People may diassapoont you, Jesus will not. That fellow who promised you promotion, marriage may have diassapoonted you, don’t worry. Are you worried about tomorrow? The Bible says rejoice.’ he said.
He warned against any form of worry and anxiety. ‘If you are worried aboutt tomorrow, remember Col 1v27 which says Christ in you the hope of glory. Rejoice evermore. Rejoice constantly.
‘Don’t worry because worry may become a sickness. Don’t bother about tomorrow because tomorrow will take care of itself. The reason people don’t pray is because they feel he will not answer.
‘In Mathew 7v7-8. God encourages us to to pray. God is not a liar. If he ask you to ask, keep asking, keep seeking and keep knocking.
There is no basis according to him for arrogance. ”sometimes we become arrogant. But the truth is that there is no basis for it. We did not determine where we were born. Are you the one who chose your parents or the place you want to be born? Before he formed us, he had everything about our lives planned out.
‘It does not matter what the enemy is planning, what God has decided will come to pass. He started with you he will continue with you and end with you.’
Referring to Joseph in the Bible he said, ‘ Ask Joseph. The brothers said they knew he had a big dream but that they will not allow the dream to come to pass. But the time came when they bowed before him.
‘Those who have made Jesus their Lord have nothing to worry. Those who have to worry are those who don’t have Jesus. You can run away from trouble by running to Jesus.’ he concluded.
