African roots-rock Gospel reggae music pioneer, Deacon Onyebuchi Atuonwu, popularly known as Buchi, has testified that the recent excellent honourary award bestowed on him by Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria, PFN at 40, as highly unexpected.

In statement made available to our reporter, he explained that he didn’t believe that the award meant for Gospel Generals such as the Bishop Oyedepos, Dr. Uma Ukpais of this World, will be one of his reward, as he was only invited to minister in songs at the historic event.

Alas! He was dazzled as he was listed among the honourable awardees of the PFN, in excellent recognition for his impactful music ministry, with his trademark reggae Gospel music.

“As I sat at the just concluded PFN (Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria) 40th anniversary, listening to great and mighty men of God, I couldn’t help wondering what exactly qualified me to be in their midst”, he said.

He further narrated, “Bishop David Oyedepo gave a powerful charge to the Church in Nigeria. Apostle Joshua Selman delivered a generation-defining message that should hang on the wall of every church; indeed on the wall every Christian heart.

At the mention of the name of Apostle Iren, the thunderous ovation of young people just wouldn’t cease. Pastor Jerry Eze, did that which has not only defined his ministry but also captivated the hearts and minds of Christians all over, across denominations and demographics. He prayed.

“Bishop Wale Oke presided. Pastor George Izunwa gave an exhortation. Pastor Yemi Davids conducted. Mama Ezekiel, Bishop Mike Okonkwo among many others were honoured with Awards and recognitions.

Archbishop Benson Idahosa, Reverend Dr Uma Ukpai and Apostle Numbere all received glorious posthumous accolades!

“And Buchi sat there, even Buchi.
In fact, not only was I called up to minister in songs, yours truly received an award.

Referring to the award he stated, “Written on the award is,
“In Honour Of Your Tireless Efforts And Dedication To The Body OF Christ In Nigeria”,
