New Alaafin of Oyo was sanctuary keeper in Canada CAC church, members share testimonies of his impact

The new Alaafin of Oyo, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Abimbola Akeem Owoade I, has been described as a committed church worker who was actively involved at the Vineyard of Comfort of the Christ Apostolic Church Winipeg, Canada..

Members of the church recently took turn to share testimonies of his impact and how he humbled himself to the point of washing the toilet in the church and cleaning the church despite his high flier status.

Adepeju Adepite, head of the Sanctuary keepers Unit of the church was first to testify about the new monarch.

She said said when the new Alaafin came to request that he wanted to be part of the sanctuary keepers, there was no man in the unit..

‘Perhaps because they were too shy to sweep and clean the bathroom.

‘He just came and said, can I join you, I said, what, wow.!. He said yes I can do it. And that was it. Since then many other men have joined. I can say he is a leader. He has been a blessing. I pray the Lord will keep strengthening him.’

Another testifier who identified herself as Abibat from the evangelism unit of the Church also shared testimony of how the wife of the new alaafin, Abiwumi Owoade used to say she would win Oyo for Jesus while also assuring that that dream will come to pass.

The music unit head of the chapter who did not mention his name described the wife of the new Alaafin as dependable and reliable. ‘When you tell her to do something she would run with it as if it is her life.


The women group of the church thanked the queen for what was described as her esteemed service while noting that she has been an amazing woman of God.

The lady who spoke on behalf of the women said, ‘Thank you for your love and for serving God with all your life. On behalf of the women I want to thank you.’


In his own submission, the Lead Pastor of the church, Fela Keshinro referring to the alaafin with some excitement said, ‘ he would clean the toilet as if…and he is a big shot . He has his masters and has professional qualifications.’

He urged the congregation to pray for the duo of Alaafin and his wife urging that the Lord will be with them in their new assignment.

About the new Alaafin

His Imperial Majesty, Oba Abimbola Akeem Owoade I, is the 46th Alaafin of Oyo. He was installed on Saturday April 5.

He succeeded the late Oba Lamidi Adeyemi III, who reigned for over five decades until his passing on April 22, 2022 at the age of 83.

The 47 year old monarch is from the Owoade-Agunloye royal lineage of the Agure Compound in Oyo Town,

He attended Baptist High School, Saki, Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro and The Polytechnic, Ibadan where he bagged his HND.

He did his NTSC at the Nigerian Gas Company, and later worked with Oceanic Bank International Plc in Warri, Delta State, as a cashier from 2003 to 2004.

He travelled abroad and obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Sunderland (2008) and Northumbria University (2012) in the United Kingdom.

‘In June 2015, he became a certified Project Management Professional (PMP), enhancing his credentials in global project execution and planning.

Oba Owoade worked as planning engineer at Oil Reach Company in Glasgow, Scotland, before relocating to Canada.

Before his ascension to the throne, he served as a project coordinator with Manitoba Hydro, one of Canada’s leading electric power and natural gas utility providers.

A dual citizen of Nigeria and Canada, the monarch is an entrepreneur and philanthropist. He is the president of Manitoba Limited and had run a successful real estate and financial services enterprise in Manitoba.

It is expected that Oba Owoade will bring to bear his vast global experience on Oyo State in his capacity as the Alaafin
