Mrs. Fela Fenwa, the new wife of Pastor Amos Fenwa, has opened up about her first attempt at marriage, recalling that the wedding never took place due to a disagreement over Aso Ebi (family uniform).
She also revealed that she fasted for 30 days before accepting Pastor Fenwa’s proposal.
Fela.and her husband, Amos.Fenwa shared their experiences during an interview on the Morayo Show on Monday, March 9.
Pastor Fenwa, the General Overseer of Holy Ghost Christian Centre, lost his first wife, Esther, on May 27, 2023 after 33 years of marriage.
He married Fela two years after his first wife’s passing—a development that sparked significant reactions online.

During the interview, Fela explained that she did not rush into the union. “I had to fast and pray for 30 days before I said yes to him. I did that because I did not want to repeat the same error I made during my first attempt at marriage,” she said.
A top executive in Ireland where she lived before her marriage to the cleric, she noted that it took another 50 days of preparation before they finally married in July 2025
Reflecting on her past, she explained: “My first attempt at marriage failed due to a misunderstanding about the Aso Ebi planned for the event.. it was to be a massive wedding and about 2000 aso ebi had been chosen by different groups ahead of the wedding. But my husband and I disagreed over what cloth to wear and what not wear. That was how the wedding was cancelled”

The wedding, originally scheduled for April 11, 2001, was called off because of the dispute with her then-fiancé, even though she was already pregnant at the time.
This turning point forced her to raise her daughter who is now a lawyer alone.
Despite coming from a wealthy Christian background where marriage is held in high esteem, her efforts to save the relationship with the father of her daughter failed. “I did everything possible to make it work. I even traveled to London to meet my betrothed, but it all proved abortive.” She said
On why she abandoned her enviable status in Europe to be married to Pastor Fenwa just three months to her 53rd birthday, she remarked: “Money isn’t everything. Getting married to Pastor Amos Fenwa is the Lord’s doing. When God says yes, it is permanent.”
Pastor Fenwa’s testimony
Pastor Fenwa recounted he married his first wife at age 23 and was deeply dependent on her. “Two years without her was hell for me. I am a very ‘domestically challenged’ person; I was used to my wife doing everything for me. I couldn’t survive without her, even in the ministry.”
He noted that his children encouraged him to remarry to avoid loneliness. He also found motivation by reading about other ministers who had been widowers but who later remarried by Pastor William Kumuyi and Prophet Samuel Abiara.
Regarding how he met Fela, he said: “A son in the ministry had prophesied, describing exactly how my new wife would look. He stated all her features and said she would come from Europe. I didn’t believe it until we finally met.”
