Kolade, Aina, Mordi charge men on excellence, integrity @ Kmen Summit

by Church Times

Nigeria”s former ambassador to the United Kingdom, Dr. Christopher Kolade has said men who claim to know God and have encountered him can’t afford to mess up their lives by living lives that are contrary to their calling.

Kolade gave the admonition on Friday May 9 at the Kmen Summit in Ikeja Lagos.

Several other servants of God including the Chief Executive Officer of Christian Leadership Skills, Rev Albert Aina and Pastor Mike Mordi, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria also took turn to admonish the men on right living .

Kolade who spoke on Masterpiece which is the theme of the conference maintained that the status of man is that of a masterpiece. ‘Our brand is Jesus himself. We are in His image. There can be no debate about it.’ He said

While noting that there is a purpose God made us who we are, he said ‘We cannot be doing anything else. God gives us a purpose in life. He gave us opportunity and opportunity comes with responsibility. Our responsibility is to do good work’ he said .

He stated that every man must come to that realisation that they are Gods masterpieces and as such should realise that they can’t do anything apart from God. He is our very source of life and we must carry on with that awareness’

Also ministering at the event, Rev Aina lamented that many men have given many things to chance and as such have failed in many areas of life

He reasoned that men should begin to learn how to live out their calling. He itemised many areas men should be deliberate about so that they will not fail at the home front.

He also reeled out a number of statistics which show men are failing at the home front adding that there must be deliberate effort to teach men practical issues of life about their finance, their relationship life, their social life, their sex life and their work life.

At the close of the day’s programme, Pastor Mike Mordi exhorted participants to begin to design a superior future that will bring glory to God and impact humanity.

He observed that God uses things that are inconsequential for his own purpose and glory .

Sharing a testimony about his life, he said , ‘By all standard there was nothing about my past that is desirable and could point to where I am today. But God took me from the backside and brought me to a place of purpose and fulfilment’

He said he was not particularly a brilliant child while growing up and his parents did not think he could turn out well.
He had written WAEC about three times before he could pass and was generally not a serious person.

But the paradigm according to him changed when he encountered Christ. ‘All I am today is by God’s grace and is mercy. But then we can’t attain excellence by wishful thinking. We have to be deliberate in living out our purpose in life. ‘ he said.

Mordi stated that anybody who wants to live as God’s masterpiece can’t afford to be selfish. ‘ The way to go is to be selfless and be determined to please God who made you. If your goal is to please yourself you can’t be God’s masterpiece.’
