#EndSARS: Listen to the people, Suleman tells govt, holds minute silence for SARS victims

by Church Times

The General Overseer of Omega Fire Ministry Apostle Johnson Suleman has lent his voice to the #EndSARS campaign, asking government to listen to the people on their demand.

He also deplored those who took advantage of the protest to loot and wreck havoc on innocent people

Suleman who made his position known during a message on Sunday October 11, said the church had a responsibility to speak out in times like this.

His comment on #EndSARS was in keeping with his promise to have a moment of silence for those who have died in the hands of the controversial squad.

He had tweeted on Saturday October 10 promising that he would hold a minute silence for victims of SARS

He said the Special Anti-robbery Squad which was established in 1992 has become the nation’s albatross noting that bad eggs have infiltrated the unit.

“SARS was established to fight crime. But some bad eggs have infiltrated it. Youths are now afraid to dress well because some boys have destroyed people’s lives through yahoo yahoo. SARS officers are very temperamental, aggressive and bullies..

“They harass innocent young people.  Many lives have been lost to them, many young innocent people have died in their hands”

He noted that the Police Force is 90 years old but that SARS is 28 years old adding that, “You can’t allow a 28-year-old institution to kill a 90-year-old institution.

“No matter the amount of money you invest in a bad business, you don’t refurbish it, you end it. If you invest in a marriage and you find out that the woman you want to marry is a man on your wedding day is a man will you go ahead with the wedding? the whole world is watching. Government should listen to the people”

He condemned those taking advantage of the SARS protest to loot and kill innocent people arguing however that government should listen to the people.

“Any nation where the voice of the leaders is stronger than the voice of the people is a banana republic. What we are talking about now is life. We are calling the government to listen to the people. When it comes to life everybody is a stakeholder” he said.

He ended his submission by asking his listeners to observe a minute silence for those who have died in the hands of SARS.
