The.Easter celebration has come and gone. But then the reason for Easter lives with us till eternity. It is a celebration of hopeless situation made confidently hopeful by the sovereign love and faithfulness of God.
At first, our salvation looked unattainable. All of humanity had gone astray. Like sheep, we all went our separate ways – doing the things our sinful
hearts desired.
The curse of God was upon us, and we were separated from Him. This separation brought pain and sorrow on all of humanity.
The more we tried to draw close to God by our own effort, the more we found ourselves farther away from Him because of our sins. It was a hopeless situation that defied all solutions.
However, when the right time came, while we were still living in sin and utterly helpless, God showed His great love for us by sending His dear Son Jesus Christ to the world to save us.
Jesus came doing good works, healing the sick, delivering the oppressed, and preaching the good news of hope to the poor. But the evil forces of this world and their human cohorts rose up and persecuted Him.
They conspired among themselves and set Him up for the most disgraceful death in His time – death on the cross. This looked like another hopeless situation but God was still at His game of working out the salvation of humanity.
Jesus suffered, died and was buried. The perpetrators of this killing thought they have had their way killing the Savior and stopping humanity from being saved.
What they didn’t understand was the fact that what they did by Killing Jesus and shedding His blood was the sacrifice that was needed for the remission of the sins of the world. What looked like evil while they did it became the triumph of the love and faithfulness of God.
That’s why the scriptures says; “if they had known, they will not have killed the Lord of glory.”
God accepted the sacrifice of the blood of Jesus and did not allow death to hold Him down in the grave. “Up from the grave He arose, with a mighty triumph over His foes. He arose a victor from the dark domain and He lives forever with His saints to reign.”
The suffering, death and resurrection of Jesus is the only hope for humanity. It is the only guarantee that we will come out of that hopeless situation we are going through in our marriages, businesses or health.
Easter reminds us of all that Jesus went through to redeem us and rekindles our hope for a Spirit guided life while on earth and eternity with God in His kingdom.
Its a time to look in retrospect on our life and walk with Jesus with a decision to commit the rest of our lives to Him and His cause on earth.
Trust you all had a blessed Easter celebration!
