Daystar Christian Centre, Lagos has trained over 770 young entrepreneurs in the just concluded Daystar Skill Acquisition Programme (DSAP). It is the first of the three training programmes in the year.
The media relations and publications manager of the church, Mr. Sunday Osanyintuyi said in a statement made available to Church Times that the skills and personal developments trainings were designed to enhance the financial independence of the beneficiaries.
The skills include photography, Make up Artistry, Catering, Fruits Art, Pastries and small chop, Bread Making, Event Décor and Web Design. Others are Fashion Design, Graphic Design, Footwear, Cake making among others.
In his speech at the graduation ceremony on Friday February 15, the Registrar of centre, Paul Nwolisa, said the training which holds three times a year serves as a means of empowering indigent Nigerians so they could be self reliant.

He said “our focus as a church is making positive impacts and raising role models in the society. We hold the training three times a year; every February, June and October. DSAP is an idea from God to give hope to the hopeless, succour to the discouraged and lifting people out of poverty”. He stressed noting that the church is the centre of hope for the Nation.
Daystar Training
About 1000 people were admitted for the free training but 770 graduated after two weeks of intensive and practical training.
Nwolisa urged the young entrepreneurs to follow up on their training with their various faculties.
The Chief Operating Officer (COO) of the church, Pastor Kenny Folarin, noted at the event that the need for everyone to learn practical skills has become paramount hence the church has taken the front roll.
“We started the free programme some years ago and to the glory of God there are testimonies of changed lives, improved incomes and reduction of poverty. This is always opened to members and non-members including people of other religions. This set is the 26th graduations” the COO explained.
Many of the graduates expressed their appreciation to God for the gesture of the church under the leadership of the senior pastors, Sam & Nike Adeyemi for the opportunity to learn valuable skills free of charge.
