David Oyedepo Jnr. says
David Oyedepo Jr. (son of Bishop David Oyedepo) has explained that grace demands work for it to have full expression in the life of the believer.
While acknowledging that such statement may be sacrilegious because it is believed that grace has nothing to do with works, he said, in Ephesians 2v8-10 that Paul stated that God created us for good works.
The scripture reads, “For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast. For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.”
He explained that the later part of that scriptures makes us to know that “we are here to execute certain tasks. It requires work for grace to fully be expressed.”
He went on to explain also that grace and faith work hand in hand. “You can’t activate the grace of God without faith. Anything that will be by grace will come by faith. The level of our faith determines the level of grace at work in us. If we are pursuing God’s plan it has to be by faith.”
He said further, “Grace also demands prayer. Heb. 4v16. When we come to pray we have come to encounter grace. The Bible tells about the apostles how they came to their own company and prayed. After the prayers the dimension of their grace increased because the Bible tells us that great grace came upon them.
“Grace demands humility. Not of works lets any man should boast. The cheapest way to extinguish grace is pride. When you’re lifted up within, you are brought down. Watch out for humility if you want to enjoy grace. God will resists the proud but supplies grace to the humble.”
Oyedepo Jnr. who is the resident pastor of Winners Chapel in Canaanland explains also that grace demands purpose. “We are God’s workmanship. We must ensure we pursue purpose and plan of God. Grace differs. Each one of us must continue to discover the plan and purpose of God for our lives. Be lined up in God’s plan and purpose. The gifts and calling of God for everyone differs. Your grace is tied to the very race you are running so find your purpose”
