Top ministers and pastors of the Foursquare Gospel Church Nigeria on Tuesday elected Rev Sam Aboyeji and Rev Isaac Komolafe to contest in the final selection process for the next General Overseer of the Church.
One of the duo would emerge the General Overseer of the church come July at a special convention for that purpose.
Sources told our correspondent that the two candidates were elected at the International Conference for Ministers and Leaders; currently holding at the church’s Ajebo, Lagos-Ibadan camp ground.
The six candidates who participated in the April elections were Rev Sam Aboyeji, Midwest Region coordinator of the church, Rev Isaac Komolafe, Northern Region Overseer of the church, Rev Yomi Oyinloye, Rev Goddie Eboje, Rev Albert Aina and Rev. Samson Alawode.
Aboyeji was said to have scored 679 votes while Akomolafe scored 452 votes to emerge the two leading candidates for the final election in July.
Barring all odds and other unspecified parameters, Aboyeji may likely emerge the new General Overseer come July.
The current G.O., Rev. Felix Meduoye had served two terms of four years each making eight years. He is expected to relinquish the position for another General Overseer when the new G.O. emerges.
Foursquare Church is a foreign mission in Nigeria. The Foursquare Gospel Church in Nigeria, sometimes referred to as Foursquare Gospel Church, Yaba, is an evangelical Pentecostal Christian denomination founded in November 4, 1954 by Rev. H.J. Curtis & Mrs. Faye Curtis and their two sons. The organization is one of the largest churches in Nigeria, and claims 2064 branches in Nigeria. The church is affiliated with the International Church of the Foursquare Gospel, headquartered in Los Angeles, California, United States.
The founding fathers of the Foursquare Gospel Church in Nigeria were Rev. Odunaike, Samuel Olusegun, Boyejo, James Abayomi and Rev. Friday Chinyere Osuwa.
The church’s national headquarters is located at 62/66 Akinwunmi street, Yaba, Lagos.
