Pastor Ituah Ighodalo has called on the Church to be at the forefront of societal transformation if it truly wants to see the change it prays for.
He made the submission at a recent event tagged, Evening with Itua Ighodalo organised by Breakthrough Media
At the event, Ighodalo admonished the church to get in the forefront of politics and keep to their chests the Biblical injunction that when the righteous rule, people will rejoice.
He made reference to Japan where they do not have any religion but where the upbringing of their children is in conformity with what the Scriptures teach on respect, honesty, humility, love, and virtues of hard work.
The cleric observed that the failure of the church is traceable to the segregation it has encouraged between conventional churches of Catholic, Anglican, Methodist, and the like.
He implored the church to get more interested in politics so that good products can emerge to glorify God in governance.
After his soul-stirring address, awards were given out to some citizens whose contributions to the development of society were noteworthy.
Ighodalo was one of the awardees which also included the chief of staff to the Lagos State Governor, Mr. Tayo Ayinde whose plaque was received on his behalf by the special adviser to the governor on chieftaincy matters, Prince Bayo Osiyemi.
The CEO of Breakthrough Media. Rev Michael Akintola said the programme was the organisation’s modest contribution to the debate of social change in Nigeria. He said it has become imperative for the church to step out and provide the solution to the lingering social and political crisis in the country.
