A woman, Hanatu Da-rai from Ungwan Gawaye in Kaduna on October 2 gave birth to a baby boy at the Internally Displaced People camp located in Tagama, Saman Kataf, Southern Kaduna
Da-rai was said to have given birth to the boy when the Christian Social Movement of Nigeria went there to donate food items and cash gifts to the camp worth N1.2million
The camp is located at the ECWA Widows Training Centre.
Mr David Ibrahim who heads the Kaduna branch of CSMN told Church Times that both parents of the new baby are residents of the camp. He said the baby is doing well nothing however that the delivery was done locally.

“The woman had to be rushed to a nearby clinic where she was attended to for about five hours before she put to bed. She later returned to the clinic,” said Ibrahim.
He noted further that there are about 7000 people currently residing in the camp with no social amenities.
According to him, “The number of residents at the IDP keeps increasing. A day before we went to the place a nearby community to the IDP was attacked. Those who were displaced had to move to the camp. And there is no clinic, no means of livelihood for the displaced people. They depend on the largess from those who come around. That is why we keep appealing for support and funds to keep these people alive”
CSMN was able to raise funds through the Lay Faithful Trust Fund to reach out to persecuted Christians. Items including rice and beans were donated to the residents of the camp. Cash gift was given to about 178 widows. The total amount spent was about N1.2million.
The coordinator of CMSN, Bro. Bosun Emmanuel in a statement thanked “all the brethren who selflessly donate to support the persecuted brethren. God bless you all.” He also thanked the Lay Faithful Trust Fund team of Bro. David and Sister Laura; who faithfully implemented the project.”
Some residents of the camp
He then appealed to all “Christians to join in the burden to bring relief and restoration to our persecuted brethren. We can do more for the Christian IDPs if many Christians will contribute to the fund. We need a minimum of one million Christians to be committed to support Christian IDPs for meaningful resettlement projects to commence.”
While calling on all to share the burden with all their contacts, he said, “What we are asking for is a monthly donation of a minimum N500. This can easily be afforded by most Nigerian Christians, at home, as well as in the Diaspora.”
