The General Overseer of the Lagos based Holy Ghost Christian Centre Pastor Amos Fenwa has explained the basis for marrying the lady whose picture was sent to him from London by a pastor friend.
Fenwa had lost his first wife, Esther Fenwa of 33 years in May 2023. She was 57. But he chose to remarry on Thursday July 17 2025 contrary to the expectations of some of his followers.
He and his new wife named Fela were joined in holy matrimony by Pastor Matthew Ashimolowo, founder of Kingsway International Christian Centre (KICC).
Shortly after the marriage the internet went agog with some people making snide comments that the marriage was coming too close to the demise of his first wife. A good number however rejoiced with him.
But Fenwa while presenting his new wife to the church in a recent video shared online monitored by Church Times explained why he had to remarry the person he married.
He said he first got to know her through her picture and that he had ignored the picture, but that the spirit of God kept telling him that the lady in the picture sent to him is the person he would marry.
According to him, the lady is a fulfilment of a word of prophecy given to him in April 2024 that the person he would marry after his wife’s death would come from Europe and would have had a child. He said the lady would also have worked in an oil company .
The person who gave the prophecy is one of Fenwa’s ministers. He claimed to have dreamt and saw him marry the lady with those descriptions..
Since the prophecy came, Fenwa said he started looking out for the lady to no avail until a pastor in London sent him the picture of his present wife in May of 2024.
He said he ignored the picture when he first saw it and said the lady could not be the person.
But the story changed after the church’s convention in May this year during which he claimed to have heard from God that the lady whose picture was sent to him is the person to marry.
From then they began talking until the talk turned to marriage.
Fenwa described his new found love as a restoration. He thanked his new mother in law, Chief Mrs Bisi Osibogun. She is the iyalode of Ijebu land.
The woman according him have supported the relationship
To his critics who believed he was marrying too soon after the death of his first wife, Fenwa says, ‘They don’t know what they are talking about. What the Bible says is till death do us part. You can marry anytime afterwards I have a friend who remarried after eight months of his wife’s passing.’
