The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye has said the church has a special covering on it and has been specially favoured by God. He said however that he was not preaching denomination.
He made the point at the monthly thanksgiving service of the Church which took place at the Church’s headquarters in Lagos on Sunday June 1.
Adeboye who preached on the topic ‘under his shadow’ said God has a way of protecting his own.
He recalled how a house fellowship centre of the RCCG was saved from being flooded though buildings around it were affected by the flood. This happened in one of the foreign missions of the RCCG.
While stating that sceptics may find it difficult to believe, he pointed attention to the fire accident that happened around the Otedola bridge area about two months ago in Lagos.
The fire affected many buildings leaving the RCCG parish around the place untouched despite consuming the building before it and after it.
A report in the Punch however quoted the Director of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, Margaret Adeseye as saying the fire fire also affected the RCCG parish.
She said two buildings including an RCCG parish and a bungalow alongside four vehicles of various brands were destroyed in the fire.
Church Times however found video clips showing how the church building was not affected by the fire. The RCCG also displayed the church on the screen during the service.
Adeboye said the exemption of the church from being consumed by fire was a divine intervention urging all to rely on God for protection..
In his message titled, the shadow of the almighty, Adeboye said God has a shadow. He urged his listeners to trust in the shadow of God quoting several Bible verses to buttress his position
The June thanksgiving service was dedicated to men of the armed forces and paramilitary.
Adeboye urged the officers to continually trust in the protective hand of God and hide under God’s shadow daily.
