I was successful in ministry but out of God’s will- Duncan Williams

by Church Times

Popular Ghana Archbishop, Duncan Williams has recalled his early years of ministry stating that though he was doing well, he was clearly out of the will of God.

In a recent message Williams who is also known globally for his prophetic and evangelistic activities said for the eight years he spent in the US, he was not in the will of God.

He said, ‘For eight years that I was in the. US and doing ministry, I was successful. I had preaching engagements in big churches and people saw that I was successful. People came from Africa and saw the big mansion I was living and the opportunity to preach in many places and said I was doing well. But I knew that I was clearly out of the will of God..’

Williams said it was not the will of God for him to be in the US when he was there adding that material and financial success does not guarantee one is doing the will of God.

He said a pastor can be clearly out of the will of God and be successful noting that Jesus would always honour his name when the name is called.

He used the analogy of a man who drives another person’s car. ‘As long as you have the key to the car, you can drive it. The car will not complain and say why are you driving me. You can drive the car as long as you’re not caught.

‘That is the same thing that happens to a man who uses the name of Jesus.  He will always honour his name wherever it is mentioned. People can use his name to do all they want and yet not be living in his will.’
