The CEO of Inspirational Global Network Dr Segun Oshinaga has charged women not to be intimidated by a male-dominated world while also urging them to invest more in their minds so they could be more relevant in society.He gave the charge while speaking on the topic: Fitted to excel, at The Future Ready Woman Conference in Lagos on Saturday, August 3
The conference had in attendance female CEOs, industry leaders, and women holding strategic positions in government and non-governmental organisations.Oshinaga stated that the world is about to change dramatically adding however that only a few people are ready to take advantage of the imminent change for their own good.
The world in 10 years
“In another ten years, the world would have fully experienced technology in the complete sense of the word. Artificial Intelligence would have become part of our daily lives, there would have been advancements in technology such that people who are not technologically inclined would be left behind. There would also be increased automation and smart solutions to complex business and management issues.” he said.
He stated however that the way women could be relevant and not relegated to the background is when they are solution providers and not just consumers of products.
According to Oshinaga, “what will distinguish people will no longer be gender. It will no longer be whether you are a male or a female. It would be about your mindset and the solution you can bring to the table. The world is looking for solutions irrespective of the person who brings it.”

Mind investement
He urged the womenfolk to invest more in their minds and work towards being productive and innovative. “Your mind is more important than your sex. So do all you can to invest more in your mind than your body. When the chips are down, it is what you can create and the solutions you proffer that will matter, not your body”
While noting that it is good to look good and presentable, he said, “We can’t afford to trade intelligence for looks. So, invest more in your mind. Your earning capacity is not determined by the beauty of your body. The most your body can give you is a fleeting gain. An enduring gain comes from your intelligence and your capacity to build the world around you.
‘A well-equipped and productive mind can feed the world. So, spend time to read relevant books, do relevant research, and explore your creative genius if indeed you want to impact your world”
Beyond immediate gain
He further pleaded with the women to think beyond immediate gain. “Those who trade their bodies for material gain soon find out that they are the losers at the end of the day. It makes no sense to allow any man to take advantage of you. When an organisation knows your worth, it would not matter your sex; they will readily seek your service because they know what they stand to gain as a corporate body.”
He also urged the women not to be intimidated if they fail in a particular venture. “Just keep on doing what you know how to do and seek ways to improve. Continuous practice makes for perfection. The more you try, the better you become. But you must continue to learn and improve. Don’t remain at the mediocre level.” He counseled.
RISES
Oshinaga used the acronym RISES to register an enduring message during the conference.
He said, “R stands for Resilience. The future belongs to those who are resilient, those who can withstand challenges and keep moving forward. I stands for Innovation. You must keep embracing creativity and new ideas. That is the key to excelling in the future world. S stands for self-believe.
“You need to believe in your inherent greatness and confidence in your ability is crucial to achieving excellence. E stands for excellence. You need to aim at the best. Don’t compromise excellence. Be the best. The last S stands for Strength of mind. This is very key. You need to invest in your mind. Read relevant books and spend time to meditate and think of providing solutions to critical issues of life.”
