God kills

Nigerian born founder and senior pastor of the Embassy of the Blessed Kingdom of God for All Nations, Ukraine, Sunday Adelaja has said it is false teaching to say God does not kill.

He wrote, dismissing such teaching in his response to an inquiry on his position on the issue.

Dr. Abel Damina, Senior Pastor of Uyo based  Power City International Church is at the forefront of preaching that God does not kill. He believes all the killings in the Old Testament were wrongly attributed to God.

But Adelaja in responding says, “It is too glaring that it’s a false teaching. Just do some research into the scripture and write out all the times when God was said to do those things. A list of scripture where God himself gave out the instructions to that effect.”

Below are a few of scriptures to show that God kills:

Deuteronomy 32:39

‘See now that I, I am He,
And there is no god besides Me;
It is I who put to death and give life.
I have wounded and it is I who heal,
And there is no one who can deliver from My hand

1 Samuel 2:6

“The Lord kills and makes alive;
He brings down to Sheol and raises up.

2 Kings 5:7

When the king of Israel read the letter, he tore his clothes and said, “Am I God, to kill and to make alive, that this man is sending word to me to cure a man of his leprosy? But consider now, and see how he is seeking a quarrel against me.”

Isaiah 66:16

For the Lord will execute judgment by fire
And by His sword on all flesh,
And those slain by the Lord will be many.

Exodus 22:24

My anger will be kindled, and I will kill you with the sword, and your wives shall become widows and your children fatherless.

Psalm 90:5

You have swept them away like a flood, they fall asleep;
In the morning they are like grass which sprouts anew.

Matthew 10:28

Do not fear those who kill the body but are unable to kill the soul; but rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.

Luke 19:27

But these enemies of mine, who did not want me to reign over them, bring them here and slay them in my presence.”

2 Thessalonians 2:8

Then that lawless one will be revealed whom the Lord will slay with the breath of His mouth and bring to an end by the appearance of His coming;

Revelation 2:23

And I will kill her children with pestilence, and all the churches will know that I am He who searches the minds and hearts; and I will give to each one of you according to your deeds.

There is no way the giver of life would not be able to take it. In the parable of the rich fool in Luke 12:18-21, Jesus said that God spoke to the rich fool requiring his soul from him. If God does not kill, why would Jesus say he does through that parable?
It is important to look at the Bible wholistically before making statements, to do otherwise is to be open to the danger or fallacy.

[…] His listeners don’t hesitate to nod their heads in acquiesce; believing his verbiage. God does not kill is now a song on the lips of his ever boisterous online army. They are perhaps not intelligible enough to understand that even if his claims that God does not kill is true, what is the rationale behind God withdrawing his presence? Suffice to say that several Bible passages are to the contrary. […]
