God, not science kept Nigerians alive during covid-19- Adeboye

by Church Times

The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God Pastor Enoch Adeboye has said it was God who saved Nigerians from the devastating effect of coronavirus and not science as some may want to believe

He made the observation on December 9, the second day of the ongoing Holy Ghost Congress of the church which is holding online.

The physical meeting for the congress is expected to hold on Friday at the Redemption Camp.

In his message at the congress, Adeboye said scientists did a great job during the covid-19

“But they could not have saved lives if God did not back them up,” he said.

Describing Coronavirus as a noisome pestilence, he said, he already knew that those who would die during the pandemic would only be those whose time had come saying, ” that was exactly what happened”

The RCCG leader who preached extensively from Psalm 91 said it was possible to live a trouble-free life describing Psalm as the believers’ insurance policy.

On covid-19, he said, “We thank God for government, we thank God for science.  But if anyone says it is science that has kept Nigerians alive, the person needs to think again.”

Referring to some of the political campaigns and public meetings during covid-19,  Adeboye said there were no indications that many of the people at those rallies kept to safety rules.

“Check what happened during the political campaigns in Edo and Ondo States, take a look at the pictures we saw on television, what is the percentage of those wearing masks.” He asked.

While noting that Coronavirus is an enemy we can’t see he said, “ to fight an enemy we can’t see, we need to talk to God we can’t see.”

He however advised his listeners to keep washing their hands and “do whatever they ask you to do”

But he urged them to know that safety is of the Lord. “Some trust in horses, some trust in chariot, but we trust in the almighty God. There will be no danger that will come our way.” He said.

He then appealed to those who are yet to come to know the Lord stressing that they needed to surrender their lives to Jesus who alone can guarantee their safety.

“surrender your life to him. This is one virus we are talking about, who knows how many are coming”
