THE JUST SHALL LIVE BY FAITH, NOT PROPHECY

WORD POWER with Pastor Ladi Ayodeji

faith

The just shall, indeed, live by faith not by preconceived ideas like karmic laws, fables, local myths, superstitions, prophecies or any false doctrine from the Devil’s storybook.

Living by faith means living by the word of God as declared in the Bible, our rule of faith, and that faith comes by hearing the word of God. “Faith cometh by hearing, hearing by the word of God (Rm. 1:17)”.

You do not live by the counsel or direction of a prophet, whether fake or genuine because that would contradict scripture. To fulfil destiny and purpose, you live by faith. But you can only live by faith if you are justified by your life in Christ. Our Lord is the justifier of the unjust, who surrenders their life to Him.

Many wait to be told by others what to do before they make a move. Wrong! Your pastor or spiritual leader is not authorized to order your steps and tell you what to do per time. That’s the exclusive function of the Holy Spirit who is authorized to lead us to all truth.

Millions of people, including born again Christian folks, listen to spiritual leaders to know what to do. Not entirely correct. You only listen to others if their words align with scripture, the authentic word of God. Divine direction can only be given by the Holy Spirit today. And the Spirit is in you already, if you are a born again believer who has received the Holy Spirit.

Your destiny is not based on any kind of belief or bias that a cultural practice has decreed. Don’t believe such tales. God crafted your destiny before you were born and has only left you to fulfil it, according to his will and purpose for your life.

You don’t have to be a preacher or full-time minister of God to fulfil the Divine will. No! Whatever your job, you can still fulfil God’s purpose for your life. All you need to fulfil purpose is to walk or live by faith in the spoken word of God.

Where do you find your purpose? It is by the revelation of the Holy Spirit, and the Bible is there to guide you correctly. Once you have this revelation, you’d be at peace and you’d have a strong witness within you. Here’re some ways your destiny could be revealed to you by the word of God. In other words, the word of God can come to you in three major ways:

  1. Revelation: God could reveal things to you in dreams, vision or someone’s message. It may be a burden you have directly. That’s by the strong inner witness, a nudging or burden, not an emotional feeling. If you have a burden for souls to be saved, you are probably called to the mission field to save souls. You are an Evangelist by calling, perhaps.

You may just have a natural competence to get things fixed. That may be that you are called to some technical field like engineering, building, mechanical or practical work, which may be outside of the vineyard of God. You may be the type who has a gift for music, some sport, leadership, debate, justice or whatever it is. That points to your destiny.

  1. Illumination: Sometimes, you may get the word by mere illumination. An event thought or book may just make an impression on you. That impression may simply lead you to something extraordinary, which invariably points to a project, ambition or desire that gives you fulfilment. That could be your destiny. You could receive this message in a dream, a telecast, in a discussion or one minor thing that you just encounter casually and it just strikes!

Sometimes, you have a faint idea about some goal, but you are not so sure. Then, someone gives a speech; a crisis erupts, a challenge comes up and it gives you a motivation to act. That’s illumination.

  1. Meditation: Very closely related to the two discussed above, is meditation. A mentor, friend, or achievement by someone could inspire you to do likewise or act in your own area of interest. The life story of a great personage that you read or are told about could stir you into action. That’s how you sometimes get inspired because you begin to meditate on such achievements. There are times when inspiration comes from dreams and you begin to meditate on what you saw, read or hear people say. (Jos 1:1-8) God instructed Joshua to continue to meditate on the word so that he could be prosperous.

We Christians have little time for meditation. We know how to praise God, dance, sing, pray, study and listen to preachers. But we do not have time to meditate on the word of God.

After you have studied, heard the word preached, or listen to inspiring music, you are to go ahead and meditate on what you have learned from these sources. The oriental religions of Buddhism, Hinduism, and traditional religions know the power of meditation more than Christians. It’s one reason they are so formidable. We, believers, must learn this art which God, in His wisdom, commanded, if we are to fulfil destiny and purpose.

You are to live by what the word of faith has spoken about the children of God and then appropriate it for your own life. You don’t allow your life to be directed by others. It is only God, by His Spirit (Holy Ghost in you), who directs or orders your footsteps (Ps 37:    ) No other person has the power to control your life. Don’t surrender your life to others, even if their previous revelations came to pass.

Let the word of God be your sole authority and guide.
