Divine healing: How God healed me of coronavirus- Babalola, Nigerian US based surgeon

A Nigerian US based medical practitioner, Dr. John Adejinle Babalola took to his Facebook page on April 25 to share how God healed him of the deadly coronavirus.

Babalola who is based in New York City and one of the doctors treating covid-19 patients said he must have contracted the virus in the course of duty in the hospital.

Though a surgeon, he said the management of the hospital had to suspend all elective surgeries so they could help in handling emergency covid-19 cases.

He said despite the Protective Personal Equipment (PPE) and the regular care and washing of hands, the virus still found its way into his body.

Babalola  a Clinical Professor of Surgery at Hofstra NorthWell School of Medicine, New York also Presiding Apostle of Living Water Ministries, Inc, said he did not take the symptoms he was having seriously, thinking what he was feeling was the usual fatigue associated with work. “But with time the symptoms progressed from tiredness, to body ache. By the following day I began to cough and sneeze heavily. Then it dawned on me that I was hooked by the virus.”

He said the first step he took was to self-isolate. “I had to self-isolate and began to treat the symptoms while praying and trusting God for healing. Usually what we do to patients in the hospital is to treat the symptoms that the patients come up with since there are no known cure. In my case I developed fever later and waves of chills. Usually when one develops chills, what is happening is that the body is trying to put up defense against the invading virus. Thank God for natural defenses. I don’t think I have ever been sick like that in my life. I lost appetite. I was down to one meal per day.

“For patients who are still having mild symptoms, we advise them to go back home and take a lot of fluid and use cough medicine if they are coughing since there is no known medication for the treatment. I believe God uses medical science to heal sick people. He also heals without medicine which is what we call divine healing. Sickness comes from the devil but healing comes from God. In my case I took cough medication, I took pain reliever. But then I had the consciousness that God is my healer. God is my Jehovah rapha. I have the knowledge that God will heal me”

Babalola said long before he was infected by the virus he had the tradition of always confessing Psalm 23 and Isaiah 53 v 1-5 declaring that “God is my Jehovah rapha”. He said he had always had the knowledge that God is the healer.

“So when it became obvious that I had contracted the virus, I began to confess the scriptures and mobilized prayer support. But in spite of that, I knew I needed the mercy of God. I prayed. My family prayed. My colleagues in the ministry prayed. Members of our church prayed.” He said.

At a point he said he sensed that the virus were many in his body. “I began to speak to the virus and commanding that they die in their hundreds. It is one thing to pray that God will heal you, it’s another thing to speak to the ailment. When you are sick you may not be at your best spiritually. But you have to draw on your prayer bank and the mercy of God. I did spiritual warfare and many people prayed for me. It is good to know that people love and care for you. A lot of people did pray along with me for God to heal me completely from the virus. Eventually I was healed.”

He however stressed that his healing did not come because of the big faith and prayers but because of the mercy of God.

While praying that those who are still bound by the sickness will be healed, he counseled that people should take all the medical precautions.

Earlier while sharing his testimony he said, “My first calling is ministry, my second calling is medicine. Being a physician I knew the coronavirus issue will be a big problem. The city of New York where we are is a busy city with people coming into it from all over the world. As medical doctors we know we are not angels. We know some health care providers may get infected. A number of people have been infected. As I speak about 51,000 people have died. One third of those who died are from New York City. At the beginning people were dismissing the virus thinking it was not a big deal. But we thank God for divine healing and the faithfulness of God. You need to live your life on both fact and faith. You can’t live your life without faith.”
