Crowd at the last RCCG convention scared me-Adeboye, preaches on greater height

Despite being a lover of crowd, the General Overseer of The Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye has said he was taken aback by the huge turnout at the last convention of the Church.

He made the confession on September 1 in Lagos at the church’s thanksgiving service programme during which special prayers were made for sports men and women.

He also used the opportunity to welcome the church to a new calender year which starts September.

Adeboye said concerning the last convention, ‘I love crowd and I always feel happy when I see crowd. But at the last convention I was afraid when I saw the crowd. When I went to the children section I saw thousands of children stretching up to a kilometre’

While noting that it’s difficult to keep just 100 children together without having issues, he said, God was faithful in keeping the thousands of children. ‘None was missing’

In his message titled, Greater Heights, the RCCG overseer noted there is always a higher level in life.

He cited the example of the Sun which takes years to get to from the earth adding that above the sun is heaven.

Adeboye then admonished those who are yet to know Jesus to make a decision for him so they could start the journey to greater heights.

“A person living in sin is dead while living, there is no height the person can attain without being saved first.” He said.

Beyond being saved however Adeboye said the Christian must pursue sanctification.

‘Sanctification is when you live above sin. The experience of salvation helps you not to sin again. Sanctification is beautiful. It makes you closer to God. Everybody can call God father only the sanctified  can call God daddy.’

He asserts, ‘He is father of all, but he is my daddy.’

Throwing more light on sanctification, he said, ‘There is an intimacy between God and you when you are sancfied. In modern parlance God  is my popsy. We are so close.’

The believer according Adeboye should also seek to operate in the miraculous warning however that doing  miracle is not a guarantee to make heaven.

‘You can heal the sick and do miracle and God will still say he does not know you. You can’t deceive God. Those who are connected to the Lord will keep flying and never get tired. You want greater heights get connected to Jesus, don’t just come to church.’ The RCCG overseer admonished.
