CAN : We are not part of the unveiling of Muslim /Muslim ticket of APC

by Church Times

The Christian Association of Nigeria has denied its participation at the unveiling programme of the All Progressive Congress  vice presidential candidate for the 2023 elections.

The spokesman of the association Pastor Bayo Oladeji said in a phone conversation with Church Timesthat the body had already made known it’s stance on the Muslim Muslim ticket and has nothing to do with it.

Oladeji was reacting to  media speculations that some CAN officials were at the venue of the unveiling of the vice presidential candidate of the APC, Alhaji Kashim Shetima

He challenged the APC to publish names of CAN officials represented at the event.

According to him ‘ Anybody can wear cassock and pretend to be pastors and bishops. Let them show us proof that CAN officials were at the venue. They have lied too much in the recent time.’

He said further, ‘If they could use 2017 photos to claim that some Pastors visited Shettima to endorse him and lied that Pastor E A Adeboye has endorsed them, they could do anything.

‘Our position on Muslim-Muslim ticket is irreversible. Anybody can claim to be  anything but one thing is clear, CAN was not part of the unveiling programme of Shettima.’

The media is awashed with pictures of men in cassock at the venue of the Abuja  Yardua Centre venue of the unveiling programme holding today July 20.

It may not be unlikely that some pastors went out of their way to show solidarity to the MM ticket of APC.

Many social media commentators are however saying many of the bishops seen in cassocks at the venue of thé programme are not bishops of any known denomination .
