The General Secretary of the National Prayer Movement, Mr. Gbemiga Olakunle has called for prayers for the declared winner of the 2023 presidential election, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.
He made the call in a recent statement made available to Church Times.
Olakunle who noted that some people may not be at home with Tinubu said it is imperative that the church pray for him to succeed as he prepares to saddle the ship of Nigeria.
He said, “Let’s continue to pray for the good health of the President-Elect and for God’s guidance for him to be able to choose wisely members of his Cabinet and other key government functionaries that will work with him irrespective of their ethnic and religious backgrounds”
Olakunle said the work ahead of the president-elect is not for him alone adding, “It is our collective responsibility. Our GOD Who still rules in the affairs of Men have spoken after we have all prayed and laboured passionately for our respective candidates.”
He recalled that the victory announcement came at a time the Redeemed Christian Church of God ended its 50-Day Prayer and Fasting programme and on the 8th Day of the ongoing 40-Day Lent Period.
Olakunle said, “It is true the result might not come the way some people had expected it, still we have every cause to thank God. Our God looks beyond the surface right into the heart and the motives behind some of our prayers and actions. Therefore in His own wisdom and sovereignty, God may decide to give us His best as the occasion may demand.”
