Anchor Humanitarian Care & Social Medical Initiative on December 13 and 14 offered free Medicare to residents of Oluwaga Community, Ipaja, and environs in Lagos Nigeria.
Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the organisation, Dr. Bolarinwa Omotosho said the programme was put together because of the body’s commitment to improved healthcare delivery in society. He thanked all the institutions and individuals that made the event a reality.
The free medicare service which took place from 9 am and 3 pm each day was organized with the support of the West Africa Theological Seminary Hospital, Team J-Osborn Medics & Healthcare Services, and the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Oluwaga Area Headquarters.
The services rendered during the outreach include routine health screening (Blood Pressure, Random Blood Sugar, Body Mass Index, HIV screening, Malaria, free medications, consultation services, and health talks)
The body also attended to about 200 persons in the community giving them free consultation services, tests, and medications.
Mrs. Morebise Olayinka the Matron of WATS Hospital also took time to enlighten the people on the importance of health and wellness.
What beneficiaries say
Many of the beneficiaries described the exercise as a unique offering to the community. Evang. Oderinde Olaoluwa, CAC Mount of Possibility Ipaja, Lagos said the medical outreach was a huge blessing to his family
Adio Oluwabunmi was excited about being a beneficiary. “I want to say a big thank you to Anchor Humanitarian Care & Social Medical Initiative, for being a benefactor of the treatment they gave. The doctor and the nurses were so patient to listen to complaints from their patients and give out many drugs to the people in which I was a beneficiary. I pray that God will continue to bless and take care of you all.”
Another beneficiary, Rachael Adeniran said the outreach has demonstrated the love of Christ to the community. “Glory be to God Almighty for bringing “church on the street medicals Outreach “to our doorstep to demonstrate the love of Jesus Christ, l took part in it and drugs like worm expeller, Ferro’s tablets, and BCO tablets were given to me for free, I was also offered free medical counsel.”
Medical officers
Mbaebie Chijioke ( Cee Jay) the team lead at J-Osborn Medics & Healthcare Services expressed profound gratitude for being part of the medical outreach.
He said the event was a well-organized and well-attended medical outreach programme where basic investigations and treatment of various ailments were offered to all the participants.
Mrs. Morebise Olayinka, the chief Nursing officer (Matron) of WATS hospital said the outreach was a huge success adding that many of the participants cooperated well with the medical officers
The two-day event according to Pastor Ebenezer Afuwape of Redeemed Christian Church of God Crown Of Glory Area observed that the turnout at the event was massive while also noting that many church workers played strategic roles in making the event a great success.
Appreciation
A member of the Board of Trustees of Anchor Intern’l, Dr Mrs Priscillia Omotosho was full of gratitude to all the medical personnel and all those who made the event a great success. She said, “The free medical outreach targeted the vulnerable members of the community, particularly women and children as well as the aged people who cannot afford the cost of medical attention.
“The outreach is an opportunity to fulfill the primary objective of the Anchor Humanitarian Care & Social Medical Initiative and to also give back to humanity. It is an opportunity to motivate action to tackle the health challenges of the medically underserved community. The free medical outreach targeted the vulnerable members of the community, particularly women and children as well as the aged who cannot afford the cost of medical attention,” he explained.
