I have had my own taste of sorrow- Pastor Adeboye; talks on his greatest expectation

General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God Pastor Enoch Adeboye has said he too has had his own taste of sorrow, while also talking about his greatest expectations

Adeboye spoke on the topic ‘Great expectations’ during the church’s thanksgiving service on Sunday, November 7 at the RCCG headquarters at Oyingbo, Lagos.

He said when something bad happens to members of the congregation it’s easy for pastors to counsel them.

His words, ‘we pastors know what to say when something happens to a member of the church especially when the person loses a loved one. We tell the person don’t worry. It is well. The person has gone to rest. But then, we should wait until that thing happens to us.’

While noting that it’s easier to counsel people who are going through challenges he said, ‘i have had my own taste of sorrow-. I had mine early in the year. I now know how it feels. When I hear something bad happens to a member I understand ‘

Quoting the Bible, the revered pastor however said a day would come when people would no longer go through pain and sorrow again

‘But a day is coming when there will be no more sickness..no more sorrow.’ he affirmed.

Adeboye: My greatest expectation

He said further that his greatest expectation will be to see members of the RCCG in heaven. Adeboye also expressed the wish members of the RCCG will be accorded a special privilege in heaven by God.

‘ I know this may not be granted, but I wish members of RCCG will be offered a particular section in heaven so that we could see ourselves. . This is why you find me crying all the time that we must be holy because without holiness nobody is going to see God.’

Earlier in his message, the RCCG overseer urged the congregation to set their affections on things above.

He reasoned that the pursuit of money will lead to nowhere adding that believers should seek first the kingdom of God.

The RCCG Overseer noted that people have different expectations pointing out that the ultimate expectation for believers should be to see God

He said, ‘.some.want fame. Some want power. Some people are ready to kill themselves over 2023. They don’t even know if there will be 2023. Nobody can say for sure he will still be around in 2023. .it is God who determines who will be around. How are you sure there will be Nigeria in 2023.

‘Some pastors want to be popular. They don’t know popularity makes you a slave of the people. Your expectations should be His second coming. I am looking forward to seeing Him I got a glimpse of Him way back in 1976. After I saw what I saw, holiness became my theme song’
