The former pastor of the City of David Parish of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Idowu Iluyomade made a grand appearance at the Holy Communion Service of the Church at the Redemption Camp on Thursday September 5.
He was seen with Pastor Kayode Pitan who took over from him at his former place of assignment.
That was perhaps his first major appearance at a programme in the RCCG camp since his suspension about three months ago from the City of David Parish.
Though no reason was given for his suspension, many believe it was not unconnected with a wide range of issues chief of which was the 60th birthday bash of his wife..
The birthday was regarded as ill-timed by many because it was done just about a week after the church lost a prominent member in the person of Mr. Herbert Wigwe, then CEO of Access Bank.
Since Iluyomade’s suspension the media has been awashed with speculations and reports that he has resigned from the church.
Despite these speculations the embattled RCCG pastor has not made any statement as regards his purported suspension and resignation. He has not granted any interview either.
The church has since posted Pastor Kayode Pitan, who also belongs to the Apapa family of the RCCG to the City of David Parish to step into Iluyomade’s shoes.
But the Thursday appearance of Iluyomade at the RCCG communion service may well be an indication that he is still very much part of the RCCG.
The camera zoomed on him while he was dancing excitedly during the praise worship session; just when the lead singer was rendering the song, mo ro wo laye mi, (I see your hand in my life). He was wearing dark glasses beaming with his trademark smile praising God side by side with Pastor Pitan.
Pastor Iluyomade’s strategic appearance at the service may well be that he might have finally made up with the church .
