2023: Shun violence, thuggery Omotosho tells Nigerian youth

President of Anchor Leadership Academy, Dr. Bolarinwa Omotosho has pleaded with young people in Nigeria not to allow themselves to be used to foment trouble even as the nation prepares for the 2023 presidential election.

Omotosho made the plea in a statement on Thursday.

He expressed worry about reported cases of violence and killings in the country urging Nigerians especially young people not to allow themselves to be used negatively by politicians

“2023 general election will not be the first and the last in Nigeria therefore all stakeholders must ensure peaceful conduct of the elections Party candidates must shun the action that can instigate their supporters to escalate a crisis that could threaten the peace of the nation

“Violence on election day if not nipped could spread to every part of the country. The politicians should also not instigate violence by making inflammatory statements capable of disturbing the peace of the country

“Conflict is a contradiction arising from differences in interest, ideologies orientations, beliefs, and perceptions. It is a contradiction that exists at all levels of the society, particularly during the election period, so it should be managed” he said,

Omotosho noted that young people played a significant role in the present political dispensation urging them not to lend themselves as instruments of violence.

He also pleaded with religious leaders to desist from using bigoted or hate speeches on the basis of religion or ethnicity that can hamper the peaceful process of the elections

“Youths must shun behaviors that are harmful to the success of the election  The end result will eventually affect all of us. Instead, religious leaders in their various settings and denominations should use their platforms including social media to promote love and unity in Nigeria.

Omotosho  appealed to politicians that whosoever emerges as the winners in the elections should endeavor to create a platform for youth employment and also incorporate them into their leadership

He appealed to all Nigerians to be calm and go out on Saturday, February 25 to exercise their civic rights despite the scarcity of cash and petrol in the country.

According to him, the 2023 election is crucial to the unity of Nigeria nation and the rebirth of Nigeria.
