Think of people-oriented programmes, Christian group urges party flagbearers, asks Nigerians to collect their PVC

by Church Times
The Christain Conscience Group has called on party flagbearers to think of people-oriented programmes even as they work towards the 2023 election.
The group also urged Nigerians to take advantage of the window of opportunity allowed by the Independent National Electoral Commission to collect their Permanent Voter Card.
The National Publicity Secretary of the group, Mr. Tunji Oguntuase made the position known in a statement on Wednesday.
Oguntuase said at the recent meeting of the group which was presided over by its  National Chairman, Dr Mrs Yetunde Akinluyi and the National Secretary, The Revd. Dr Kolawole Verralls , there was a consensus that Nigerian politicians need to do more in their service to the masses.
While commending the parties for the successful election of their flagbearers, the group said the politicians must begin to look in the direction of making life better for the Nigerian masses.
Christian Conscience specifically noted that any government that will make sense in the next dispensation must make the issue of security and electricity a top priority.
“The next government in Nigeria must not fail in addressing the problem of electricity and security in the land. Nigerians have suffered too much in the area of poor electricity. The security situation in the country is also appealing. Any government that will make sense in 2023 must bear these issues in mind and make them a priority. “
The organisation however noted that  power of choice now lies on the doorstep of Nigerians. “It is now left for Nigerians to elect credible, acceptable, God-fearing candidates that will take us to the Promised Land of economy buoyancy, adequate security of lives and property as well as job creation for our youths.
“Also, the issue of electricity must also be addressed. “most artisans and Nigerians’ means of livelihood, depend on this epileptic and undependable supply of power. When the issue of electricity is adequately addressed, the informal sector of the economy will pick up and the Nation will be better for it” the group stated.
Christian Conscience Group stressed further that  “Nigerians who are yet to begin or conclude the process of getting their PVCs should take advantage of the remaining window period allowed by INEC to do so.”
The group commended the political parties for ensuring that internal democracy thrives in their parties. it however them to replicate these laudable efforts during the 2023 general elections.
The body stated that the success of the primaries has clearly shown that, despite its challenges, Nigeria will get to the  Promised Land
“We watched keenly with bated breath primaries of the leading parties, but was surprised at the high sense of maturity displayed by the parties and the successes recorded by all of them in arriving at acceptable candidates”.
