NUC accredits Precious Cornerstone University undergraduate programmes

The undergraduate programmes of Precious Cornerstone University (PCU), Ibadan, Oyo State have been accredited by the National University Commission

PCU, a faith-based institution established by the Sword of the Spirit Ministries, Ibadan, which is gearing towards producing its first set of graduates next year, was granted a full operational licence by the NUC in April, this year.

In a letter dated 2nd August 2021, with reference number NUC/ES/412/ vol 13/24 from the office of the Executive Secretary of the Commission, Prof. Abubakar Rasheed, conveyed the news of the accreditation to the Vice-Chancellor, PCU, Prof Kola Oloke.

A statement made available to Church Times from the media office of the school indicated that the programmes accredited according to NUC include Business Administration, Accounting, Biochemistry and Computer Science. Other programmes are Microbiology, Physics with Electronics and Economics.

The VC of the school Prof Julius Oloke was said to have expressed delight at the accreditation of all the institution’s academic programmes, maintaining that the university was on the path of reaching greater heights.

“This a major feat and a big milestone for the institution as the school prepares to graduate its first set in the 2021/2022 Academic Session,” the VC said.

He added that in its bid to expand, the University was preparing to host another NUC team for Resource Verification Exercise that would empower the institution to run new programmes.

Prof Oloke listed the courses in the pipeline to include; Cyber Security, Software Engineering, Mass Communication, International Relations and Procurement Management, all at degree level.

Meanwhile, the renowned Microbiologist has reiterated the resolve of the management of the university towards ensuring that the institution produces functional graduates who can be self-sustaining after graduation.
