Kumuyi appreciates Deeper Life youths, says “We are ready to embrace new ideas”

by Church Times

General Superintendent of Deeper Life Bible Church, Pastor Williams Kumuyi has expressed great appreciation and thanks to young people who celebrated him on his birthday.

He said many of the young people expressed their joy and excitement the way they understood.

Kumuyi expressed his appreciation during a worship service in the church headquarters recently.

He said, “I want to register my appreciation publicly to all of them. Those who sang played instruments. And those who excitedly dramatized. I appreciate them, God appreciates them.” He said.

Kumuyi who is not known to celebrate birthdays noted that many of the old folks in the church chided the young people for being expressive during his birthday.

While not condemning the old folks, he said, “On the 6th of June some young people did something they were excited about and some of us old people, older than me maybe; rebuked them directly or indirectly. I even heard one of them who played instrument singing happy birthday.

“Many of them expressed their joy but the adults did not express their joy which is good. They did it calmly and maturely. But those young people acted as young people. I want to register my appreciation to them publicly. Those who sang played instruments and those who excitedly dramatized whatever. I appreciate them. God appreciates them.”

He then pleaded for some of the young people who perhaps must have been removed from their posts by some leaders in the church for doing what they did.

Kumuyi: We welcome new ideas

He said, “If it so happens that you remove any of them for doing what they were doing in the church, please for love sake, for unity sake, restore all of them. We love you, young people.

“We are looking forward to you doing more to the glory of God and joining us in evangelism. We look forward to getting your good ideas to replace our old ideas which are not working with the new ones.”

Kumuyi pleaded with the old folks to “encourage our children,” while praying they “will go farther than we have gone in Jesus name”
