Despite loss, Ighodalo preaches at man’s funeral says life is full of mystery
Despite loss of his wife, Pastor of Trinity House, Itua Ighodalo braced all odds on Sunday June 14 to preach at the funeral of 25 year-old Ayodeji Modupe Johnson.
The video is being circulated online.
In a solemn gathering where he spoke on the topic, Life, Ighodalo said he received a call around 2 am that shattered his life but had to still make time to come to the funeral.
He said he was not supposed to be at the gathering, saying if he was told he would be at the event of celebrating Ayodeji a week earlier he would not believe. ‘He was ill no doubt but nobody believe we will be here today for his burial.”
Talking about his own tragic experience, he said, “this time yesterday if anybody had told me today would be what it is I will not believe. But this is how life is. Life is nothing.”
In the brief exhortation, he said “everywhere is tensed, confused, frightening, disturbing. Life is deep mystery. There is no human being who can say to you that they fully understand life. No matter how wise we are, even like Solomon, we can’t understand life.
“We see in part. We prophesy in part. We see darkly. But it will come a time when we will see clearly. We don’t have control over most things in life. We have no control over who our parents are. We have no control over where we were born. You have no control over your complexion, your race and your height. We don’t have control over our weight. Nobody has control over life.”
The death of his wife, Ibidun yesterday sent shock waves across the country. Condolences have continued to pour in from far and near. Many prayed for him that God will see him through the grief he is experiencing.
Ibidun reportedly went to Bayelsa and Rivers states to help with the building of isolation centres for COVID-19 patients. She died according to reports due to cardiac arrest a month to her 40th birthday.
Meanwhile President Mohammadu Buhari has sent condolence message to him.
Mr. Femi Adesina, special adviser to the president on media, said Buhari shares in the pain and sorrow of the family and prays for God’s comfort for the entire family, friends and members of the church.
He said the president recalls that Ighodalo is one person who faithfully prays for the country and the government.
He recalled in the statement that Ighodalo sent a personal letter of condolence when Abba Kyari, his former chief of staff, passed away in April.
The statement reads in part, “Please accept my condolence. May God give you the fortitude to bear the loss, and strengthen you at this trying time.”
