Christ Apostolic Church, Nigeria and Overseas has announced the dates for the funeral programmes of Pastor John Obafemi who died on November 22 2024 at the age of 111.
Obafemi was the 5th President of the church between 1993 and 1997. He was succeeded by the late Pastor E.H.L. Olusheye.
He celebrated his 110th birthday on May 20, 2023.
According to a statement signed by the Director of Publicity for the Church, Pastor Alawode Ademisoye, the funeral programmes which started at his residence in Lagos on January 16, 2025 with a Service of Songs, will continue at hs home town, Isare Opin in Ekiti Local Government of Kwara State on January 23 where a Christian Wake Service will be held at 4.00pm at his Idoro compound.
The interment and Outing Services will be held at the Christ Apostolic Church, Oke Alaafia District Headquarters at Isare Opin on Saturday, January 24 at 9.00am.
Pastor Obafemi was the oldest retired military officer of the Nigerian Army until his death last November
He was appointed the 5th President of CAC on June 9, 1993 at a critical time in the Church’s history. He did his best to keep the Church together and he retired in 1997.
President of the church, Pastor Samuel Oladele and other principal Officers of the Church will minister at the burial and outing services.
