A new book, titled Last Days Deception, by Jackson Ekwugum, publisher of Lifeway and Communication Manager with the Delta State Government, is set to be released on Friday, August 22
The book is a thesis on deception as it relates to the church. It also provides answers to some of the doctrinal issues that tend to divide the church of late.
With ten questions grouped into ten chapters, Ekwugum provides scriptural clarity to some doctrinal issues raised by church people.
Questions addressed in the book include: Did Jesus die to make us rich? Is the prosperity message unbiblical? Is tithing a New Testament doctrine? Can a Christian lose his salvation? What is the role of prophecy in the New Testament church?
While stating that he does not claim to have all the answers to the questions raised in the book, he assured that the book contains some “answers nevertheless”.
He expressed hope that the reader would gain a deeper insight and understanding of the Christian faith and be better equipped to persevere in the cause of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.
Ekwugum, apart from his job with the Delta State Government, is a teacher of the word and Bible expositor.
The book, which will be presented to the public on August 22 identifies a series of confusing messages and draws the attention of the reader to the subtle attempt to deceive hapless believers.
Beyond throwing light on some of these strange doctrines, the book seeks to guide believers on how to shield themselves from strange messages.
Ekwugum, in the statement, said the purpose of the book is to enlighten the believer about the dangers posed by false teachings that have infiltrated the church.
He stated that to overcome the deception of the last days, ‘our discernment must not only be razor-sharp; we must also adopt the Berean attitude of subjecting whatever we hear or read (including this book) to rigorous Biblical scrutiny. We must bear in mind, as Apostle Paul pointed out, that sound doctrine is to be endured, not enjoyed”.
