Anglican Church appoints Sam Ohuabunwa, Okeowo others to strategic assignments

The Primate of the Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion, The Most Rev. Henry C. Ndukuba has appointed the founder and former CEO of Neimeth Pharmaceutical Mazi Sam Ohuabunwa to chair the Taskforce on CSS Limited.

Dr. Toyin OKeowo is to serve as his deputy on the board, while The Ven. Dalimore Odigie will serve as the board’s secretary.

Others on the board are  Lady Priscilla Eleje, Mr. Chudi Illoh, Dr. Olumide Philips, Barr Yusufu Pam, Sir Stanley Amuchie. The Rt Rev’d Timothy Yahaya and The Rt Rev’d Chidi Oparaojiaku. Sir Engr Ihekwumere Azuwuike,  Chief Abiodun Asiwaju and Sir Gershon Amaewhule are also on the board.

CSS Limited is a business concern of the Church of Nigeria Anglican Communion.

According to a news item gleaned from Advent Cable Network Nigeria, the appointments were made by the Primate to strengthen the growth of the church and its institutions.

The Primate also appointed person to the Church of Nigeria Senior Clergy Course Team and Church of Nigeria Ecumenism Team

The Taskforce on CSS Limited is expected to review the operations of the CSS Bookshop Ltd, CSS Book House, and CSS/Sterling Press Ltd

They are to recommend ways of improving and repositioning the companies for optimal performance in a competitive Nigerian Economy and propose a thriving future plan for the CSS Book House and other landed property of CSS Ltd.

The Task Force is also expected to propose any other policy for Church of Nigeria Investment and Financial Stability.

The team which was inaugurated on July 29 is expected to submit an Interim report of its work on or before Friday, October 29, 2021.

Members of the Church of Nigeria Senior Clergy Course Team are:

1. The Most Rev’d Dr. Blessing Enyindah – Coordinator,
2. The Most Rev’d Dr. Cyril Odutemu,
3. The Rt Rev’d Dr. Jwan Zhumbes,
4. The Rt Rev’d Dr Williams Aladekugbe,
5. The Ven. Dr Nnamdi Okpuno,
6. The Ven. Dr Princewill Ireoba, and
7. The Ven. Titus Alkali.

This Team has the church’s mandate to review and rework the curriculum of the theological programme of the church’s seminary to reflect the current needs of the Church.  It will also appoint facilitators and lecturers for the relevant courses and propose better ways of encouraging Bishops in sending their Priests for the Course.

Those on the Church of Nigeria Ecumenism Team are Most Rev’d Dr David Onuoha – Coordinator, The Rt Rev’d Dr Duke Akamisoko, The Rt Rev’d Dr Johnson Atere,  The Rt Rev’d Dr Owen Nwokolo, The Ven. Dr Princewill Ireoba, The Ven. Dr Justice Okoronkwo and The Ven. Joshua Lambert. Others are Barr Chinelo Anazodo, Rev’d Barr Cornerstone Okpute, and  Barr Betty Umegbulem

The team is expected to review the place and role of the Church of Nigeria among ecumenical groups,  Identify reasons for the lapses of the Church of Nigeria in the ecumenical bodies and how to mitigate them.

The team is expected to also articulate ways to reposition the Church of Nigeria in order to recover the lost grounds and reposition it to effectively play her role in the work of the ecumenical bodies.

The team is also to explore the possibilities of having our own block or to team up with the Roman Catholic and others to form another formidable force to counter the marginalization that the Church of Nigeria suffers in the hands of other members of the ecumenical groups.

This team according to information on ACNN will be inaugurated via zoom on Monday, August 9, 2021, by 11:00 am.
