Pastor Enoch Adeboye, General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian church of God has said members of the church would be required to fast for 100 days in 2025.
He however said the fasting programme is for those who are willing and would not be compulsory.
Adeboye made the disclosure while preaching at the ongoing Congress of the Church in the early hours of Saturday December 14.
Preaching on the topic, Onward Christian Soldiers, Adeboye said, a Christian is expected to live a life of fasting.
He said though some people may puncture his submission on fasting he pointed out how many patriarchs of fhe faith fasted including Jesus Christ who was God in human flesh.
He recalled that the last time the church declared a 100-day fast was 10 years ago.
He stressed however that the 2025 fast will be voluntary adding, ‘those who fasted 10 years ago, know where they were then and where they are now’
Still on the message, he said a Christian soldier is called to a life of prayer and discipline. He explained that a believer cannot afford to live a careless life if such believers indeed wants to please God .
Adeboye who took time to pray for participants at the event also emphasised the need for joy for the soldier of Christ.
‘A Christian soldier is supposed to live a life of Joy. You must be joyful and let thanksgiving be part of you. Praise God always and you will see the hand of God in many ways’ Adeboye said.
