A prophetic call to repentance and revival in the Nigerian Church

by Church Times

By John Abiola

“And when he had looked round about on them with ANGER, being grieved for the hardness of their hearts.” — Mark 3:5

This is an emergency call to Nigerian Christian leaders, heads of churches, and preachers: do not ignore this clarion call. Humbly abandon your schedules and set aside time to fast, pray, and perform spiritual self-examination to discern where you have missed God.

You must urgently ask: Am I still walking with God? Clerics must engage in deep reflection and ask: What am I doing in the name of God that He did not send me to do? And what has He called me to do that I have neglected?

This call is for every pastor and minister of God in Nigeria. A great calamity is looming if Nigerian church leaders fail to genuinely repent of their sins and take urgent corrective action. This impending disaster is not only physical—it will affect our bodies and churches—but also eternal: it could result in eternal damnation in hellfire.

Many will dismiss this message. Some may say, “When did God abandon me and appoint you to correct me?” Others will mock or be angry. But one thing is certain: your blood will no longer be on my hands, according to the Word of God.

Ezekiel 3:17–21 (KJV) “Son of man, I have made thee a watchman… When I say unto the wicked, Thou shalt surely die; and thou givest him not warning… his blood will I require at thine hand… Yet if thou warn the wicked… thou hast delivered thy soul.”

Christ’s Message to Nigerian Church Leaders

After my usual worship, praise, and thanksgiving, I knelt at my prayer altar and asked, “Lord Jesus Christ, what should my prayer focus be today?”

Then I heard a voice speak to me:

Matthew 9:35–38 (KJV)

  1. “And Jesus went about all the cities and villages… preaching the gospel… and healing every sickness…
  2. But when he saw the multitudes, he was moved with compassion… as sheep having no shepherd.
  3. Then saith he unto his disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few;
  4. Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest.”

He continued: “Pray for more labourers in both the Church and the lost world.”

After praying for a while, I saw in a trance that Jesus Christ was standing beside me. He said

“I am raising new workers from among laymen and women, the unlearned and unknown. I am raising workers from among imams, marabouts, jihadists, terrorists, and their sponsors—from the Muslim world in Nigeria.

I have rejected and replaced many leaders in the Nigerian Church. They will not see My glory. I have waited for them to return to Me, but they have refused.

You have pleaded for them for over two decades, but they have hardened their hearts.

Do you know the difference between Islamic jihadists and Nigerian church leaders? It is love and passion. Jihadists love whom they believe in and are ready to die for their cause, but My servants do not love Me.”

He asked me:

“Have you ever seen any church leader distribute one million Bibles for evangelism to Muslims?

But they’ve paid 50, 100 million Naira or more as ransom to jihadists—and built lavish edifices for themselves.

Have you seen any of My servants travel to Niger, Libya, or Mali to preach the gospel and make My name known?
They prefer the comfort zones of Europe, America, and Dubai—for fame and wealth.

He asked again:

“What are the jihadists looking for in churches? Money—to buy more weapons to kill rebellious, disobedient Christians.
And what do My servants want from their congregations? Money—to buy fame, positions, influence, and affluence.
They do not love Me. They are selling My name for profit. They use My glory for themselves. They hate Me and the work I did at Calvary.

I have raised many unknowns to replace them—street evangelists who are humble, not prideful or arrogant.

He asked:

“Have you seen any Southern Nigerian church leader with a vision to evangelize jihadists who have migrated southward?
To equip them with gospel materials and support them to return and evangelize their people?

No—they are spiritually blind, darkened in heart, prideful, vengeful, unforgiving, and full of hatred.
I have rejected them, just as I rejected Saul and replaced him with David.

I have rejected them, just as I rejected the Sadducees and Pharisees—I am with My disciples now.

They will not see the glory that is coming.
I am coming to overturn the tables and drive out those who sell My name for profit in My Church. I did it before; I will do it again—again and again.”

I cried out, “Lord, have mercy!”

He replied:

“Yes, I have shown mercy—that is why I am doing this. For My name’s sake, My Church must be purged and cleansed.
I am raising new workers—humble ones who will not bow to the god of gold (Mammon), serve themselves, steal My glory, or live for themselves.”

I saw Him unhappy and angry. Then He left—I saw Him return to heaven—angry and sorrowful.

Reports Confirmation:

Reports indicate that 90% of pastors are not genuinely born again. Any pastor who is not heaven-conscious cannot be trusted. Another report claims that 98% of Nigerian pastors are fake. Furthermore, a new nationwide survey of American Christian pastors reveals that the majority do not hold a biblical worldview. In fact, only 37% possess a truly biblical perspective, while 62% embrace a hybrid belief system known as syncretism. Is this not a cause for weeping? Is this not enough to stir the righteous anger of Jesus Christ against today’s clerics?

Prophetic Confirmation: A Witness from Dr. R.W. Schambach
The late American Evangelist R.W. Schambach, while ministering in America, once called aside Pastor Ladi Peter Thompson and shared a vision in an interview with Bola Adewara, titled, The Spiritual Solution to Boko Haram: Is it possible to turn away from God without knowing it?
This solemn vision echoes the message Jesus spoke to me. Read the extracts:

“I had been worried because the Lord had told me that the Nigerian gospel that could not handle corruption had no hope against Islamist terror (Boko Haram). Using the scriptures from Galatian 1:6-8 Schambach exposed the existence of something called “another gospel” and confirmed it from 2 Corinthian 11:4 to reveal that “another gospel” was sponsored by “another spirit” which was based on “another jesus”!

The revelation showed that Nigeria like Israel had been without the “true gospel”, the “true spirit” and the “true Jesus” for a long time because there were no teaching-priests to expose the truth. The book of Galatians made it clear in the first two chapters that Apostle Paul was chosen by God to confirm the genuine gospel! He was chosen and taught by Jesus Christ directly to preserve the gospel of Christ or the Eternal gospel as some call it.

The 3rd chapter of Galatians spells out the consequences of following “another gospel” and listed witchcraft, frustrations, confusion and many ills that have plagued the Nigerian church. The consequences were further enumerated in chapter 4 with the loss of our divine inheritance to the “spirit of Sudan” bearing emphasis in verses 28-30!

The Islamist terror or boko haram (Islamic sect) falls under this umbrella! The revelation emphasized that God would never defend any other gospel than His own! Since the Nigerian Church had decided to embrace “another gospel”, “another spirit”, and “another jesus” there was little that God could do to prevent bloodshed and the consequences spelt out. If the Nigerian church would repent of its rebellious gospel the glory of the Lord would defeat boko haram (islamic sect) and corruption with one stroke of the sword.”

In the days ahead it will be good for each Nigerian Christian to know that it was our diversion from the real faith into ” another gospel ” that invited this boko Haram( Islamic sect) and rocket launchers into Nigeria. It is my prayer that we all repent of ” another gospel “, ” another spirit and “another jesus ” so that God can preserve our nation. Many of North African countries above Nigeria fell to the spirit of Sudan because the Christian leaders allowed ” another gospel” to ruin the work of the Lord.” Is this not a matter of weeping?

Prophetic vision: A witness from Nigerian- Britain Pastor Dr. J.O Adegbite.

There are many visions God showed me. Having relaxed myself in Britain for a successful ministry and academic life, the Lord showed me all Nigerian churches gathered together in a big camp. Then I saw something like mercury light turned on in the darkness.

Naturally, when the mercury light is turned on in the darkness, any thing white will be whiter and all other colors will fade. Then the Lord held my hand and said: ” Come and see”. Behold a congregation of about three million members are having only about ten people wearing white.

Then I shouted in the vision “ah!” But the Lord said to me: “Shut your mouth”, do not disturb them, service is going on. ” Then he took me to another church where there were about one million members and only about six were wearing white. I shouted in the same way and the Lord repeated the same statement. He also took me to the third church where there only six about hundred members .

But alas! About half of them were wearing white and I shouted in the same way and the Lord repeated the same statement: ” Shut up your mouth! Do not disturb them service is going on. ” Then I cut in to ask: ” Lord who are they worshipping; I mean the multitude in colors?”

The Lord then gave me an answer I have never heard from Him before: He said, ” I don’t know.” Then he asked me: ” Do you know why I am showing you this?” I said”No.” He said: ” Go to Nigeria , increase the white ones.”

The most disappointing in the vision is that I cannot remember ( it does mean there was none) wether I saw anyone on the pulpit wearing white. The reason is simple, many Pastors have caught virus and they are in colors. Is this not a matter of weeping?

The Nigerian Church Leaders and the Gates of Hell

Through compromise, silence, and deviation from God’s truth, Nigerian church leaders have allowed Islamic jihadists to rise, bringing corruption and violence. We call ourselves Christians, but our lives deny Christ.

Our services became empty rituals. Pastors never taught repentance, righteousness, or the cost of discipleship. Instead, we were taught that godliness equals wealth. We learned to pray for perceived human enemies to die, becoming spiritual murderers. Our churches have become covens of witchcraft, occultism, and manipulation.

We ignored basic Scriptures—Matthew 18, Mark 11, Colossians 3. We forgot forgiveness and love. And while Boko Haram grew from a few in 2009 to a massive network including ISWAP and Fulani herdsmen, we were blind. Jihardists war is going to eradicate Christianity, Christians and Sunday service and declare Friday, the holy day of Islam and worship in Nigeria.

Over three million jihadists now reside in Lagos alone, infiltrating our daily lives.

Our spiritual leaders failed us.They are careless, indolent and pleasure – loving. They didn’t teach righteousness or warn us of sins, eternal cost. We are guilty of deception, idolatry, and prophetic gimmicks. If we die today—by jihadists, sickness, or rapture—where will we spend eternity?

But it is not too late. Let us return to God, rediscover salvation, and seek Christ sincerely.

Other Ills in the Church Today:

Idolatry of men of God: Pastors have become idols, and their words are exalted above Scripture.

Celebrity Christianity: Worldly fame and image have replaced brokenness and humility.
Entertainment-driven worship: Lights, sounds, and shows have replaced the presence of God.

Sexual scandals and cover-ups: Immorality is rampant among ministers and overlooked.

Political compromise: Church leaders dine with corrupt politicians without rebuke.

Prophetic merchandising: Selling of oil, water, and so-called anointed materials.

Prayer extortion: High payments required for personal prophecy and deliverance.

Gospel dilution: Messages focus on happiness, success, and destiny—not repentance, holiness, or eternity. Is this not enough to sitr the righteous anger of Jesus Christ against today’s Clerics? Is this not a matter of weeping?

God’s Prophetic Agenda for the Nigerian Church and Nation
By Prophet John Abiola – Intercessor for Revival

What is Gods agenda for the Nigerian Church?

Many Christians are asking, “What is God’s agenda for the Nigerian Church? What is His divine focus?”—so that we may align ourselves with it.

We are well aware of the agendas of occult groups, witchcraft networks, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Boko Haram, and Fulani herdsmen. But what about God’s agenda? Sadly, many Clerics and believers are unclear about His plan for our nation and the Nigerian Church.

Today, I bring you a prophetic summary—a revelation compiled from decades of visions, prophecies, and divine utterances released by British missionary to Nigeria in 1930s, Pa S.G. Elton and other proven, spiritual men and women of God since the 1970s. These revelations also align with what the Lord has shown me personally over the past two decades.

Nigeria is a nation close to the heart of God.

The divine mandate for the Nigerian Church is this: to ignite a global end-time revival that will prepare the way for the return of Christ in glory and the rapture of His saints. This revival will be birthed through radical preaching of the Gospel of the Kingdom and a mighty wave of intercession—both within the Body of Christ and for the salvation of the lost.

The Nigerian Church is called to be: Missionary-focused – commissioned to evangelize the continent of Africa, the Black race, and the world at large.

Intercession-driven – raising a fire of prayer that fuels global revival.

Custodians of the undiluted Gospel – preserving and proclaiming the truth of Christ’s message, rooted in holiness, biblical values, and eternal kingdom principles.

A prophetic arrow – ordained to confront and dismantle false gospels, including the prosperity gospel, and to stand against the spirit of Ishmael influencing many regions of the world.

This is not a time for slumber. We are at war .The Nigerian Church has a prophetic role in God’s end-time agenda.

A Cry for Mercy:

Lord Jesus, I do not want to die in my sin and go to hell. I come to You today in repentance. I now see that I was full of activity but empty of truth. I thought I knew You—I did not. I was deceived. Purge my heart with Your blood. Save my soul. Reveal every hidden sin and help me never to return to it again.
My Lord Jesus and Blessed Holy Spirit reveal to me the blue print of life and how to go about it in Jesus name.
Let this cry be the beginning of true revival in Nigeria—starting from my heart in Jesus name. Amen.

Prayer Points for Nigerian Church Leaders and the Church. Pray them daily

  1. Prayer for Genuine Repentance and Spiritual Awakening:
Father, in Your mercy, visit Nigerian Church leaders with conviction by the Holy Spirit. Let there be genuine repentance, brokenness, and a return to Your will and ways. Awaken every sleeping heart and restore first love for Jesus Christ.

Scripture: Revelation 2:4-5 – “Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love. Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and repent…”

  1. Prayer for Humility and the Fear of God:
Lord, humble every proud heart among Church leaders. Deliver them from the spirit of pride, self-glory, and greed. Let the fear of the Lord return to the pulpit, altar and pew. Raise a generation of leaders who tremble at Your Word.

Scripture: Isaiah 66:2 – “…But to this man will I look, even to him that is poor and of a contrite spirit, and trembleth at my word.”

“I know thy works, and tribulation, and poverty (but thou art rich)… Be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life.”

  1. Prayer Against Doctrinal Compromise and Spiritual Seduction
