God took my dad the way he took Enoch-John Odeyemi, son of pastor who died while praying
John, son of Pastor Joshua Odeyemi who slept in the Lord on his knees while praying in preparation for Church service on February 16 2020 has said God took his father just the way Enoch walked with God and was no more.
Until his passing away, Pastor Odeyemi was Overseer of Reconciliation House in Ondo State Nigeria. He was 56. He began ministry at the age of 17 but went into full time shortly after his university education.
In a phone interview with Church Times, John said, “My father had always told us he would not die by sickness or accident but that he would go to be with the Lord during the period of ordination in the church. And that is what happened. He ordained deacons earlier in the week. On Sunday while he was on his knees praying, he passed on”
He said God literally took his father noting that he had finished his race and had completed the task. “It is something to thank God for that he finished well and he finished strong.”
According to him, his father was never sick and had a history of a good health. “He did not joke with his health. He was hale and hearty up till his passing on.”
On how his mother. Funmi Odeyemi handled the development, He said, “When my father died, the Holy Ghost literally took over my mum. Ordinarily one would not expect that my mum will go ahead to preach even after knowing my dad had passed on. But the Holy Ghost took over her spirit. When dad passed on, she still went to church that morning and she did not betray any emotion. She took the message that Sunday morning. It was after the service that the passing on of dad was announced to the church. It can only be God working through her. The Lord literally strengthened her.”
Until his death, Pastor Odeyemi was tremendously used of God to rout the kingdom of darkness. He lived a life of sacrifice and total surrender to the will and purpose of God.
His remains will be buried at Trans Camp, Iju, Ondo State on March 9. There will be a night of thanksgiving and testimonies on March 8 at the International Cultural Centre Dome, Alagbaka, Akure, Ondo State.
