Bishop Oyedepo @ Shiloh 2024 says, “You don’t need prophet to speak over your life, God’s word enough”

Founder of Living Faith Church Worldwide also known as Winners Chapel, Bishop David Oyedepo has said the word of God is the more sure word of prophecy than any prophetic word a man of God may give. He then urged his listeners to stop looking for prophets to speak into their lives but rather should give more attention to the word of God.

Oyedepo made the submission on Tuesday, December 10, the first night of the annual Shiloh programme taking place at the Church’s headquartres in Ota, Ogun State.

In the message titled, Unveiling the prophetic dimension of scripture, Oyedepo who reeled out several scriptures to strengthen his position said Christians need to look to no other source apart from God’s word for them to take their position in destiny.

He said, “God is committed to his word. He will not do anything apart from his word. He is not a racist and he respects no man. If you work according to his word, you will experience his goodness. Your case is already settled in the word of God. It is ignorance that makes you to be running around.”

While emphasizing the need for the prophetic destiny of his listeners to come alive, he said,  “The glory of this redemptive age is far greater than the days of the Old Testament.”

He said, “A greater than Abraham is here. A greater than Joseph is here. A greater than Daniel is here because we are in Jesus. The glory of this redemptive hour is greater than the days of the Old Testament”

Still emphasising that scriptures are prophetic he said, “If you are committed to the principles of the Bible, you will succeed. Everything about the Bible is prophetic. Knowing the right thing from scriptures gives you a light that will change you supernaturally.”

He cited many Bible promises while stating that every prophetic word in the Bible delivers on a covenant platform for those who want to benefit from the word. “God is committed to His part of the deal if you are committed to your part.  There is work to do if you must succeed.”

He added that prophetic scriptures are valid for all times. But those scriptures apply to only those who believe. It takes faith for prophetic scriptures to come alive. Until your part is played, God won’t be committed.”

Fight of faith

According to him, Christians are called to engage in a spiritual fight. “We are called to fight a good fight of faith if we must lay hold on our eternal destiny. You must also realise that your future is in God’s plan, not your plan. Find out the plan of God for your life and follow his instructions.  Whatever God commands, when you follow puts you in command.”

He recalled an encounter he had in the 80s when God told him it was impossible to look up and down at the same time. “God made me realise that I can’t be looking up and down at the same time. He said to me that I should keep my gaze on him. If you look unto Jesus, you won’t see all the nonsense around you.”

While encouraging his listeners to remain committed to the assignment God has given them, he said, “It is in the place of your assignment that he blesses you. He will not bless what he has not commissioned you to do. You must also know there are no private revelations in the scriptures. We all have a common destiny in the kingdom.  What He does for one, he does for all. Your future is sure. But your discovery of that future is required.”
